Located in the historic Marais district, Musée Picasso houses the largest Picasso collection in the world. Opening its doors 29 years ago, the museum fast became one of Paris' best loved museums. On display in the regal, mid-17th century Hotel Salé are the volatile artist's famous masterpieces such as La Celestina and The Suppliant. From the museum's vaulted cellars to its airy attics, a profusion of sketches, engravings, ceramic works and sculptures are on show beckoning viewers to enter Picasso's whimsical world of child-like honesty.

This beautiful fully renovated Picasso museum is a modern art gem in the trendy Le Marais area. It's a four-story beauty with Parisian checkered floors that was once the house of Picasso himself and now contains his art work as well as his private collection of paintings from Matisse to Courbet (these displayed on the last floor). His art work is displayed by order of his first sketches to his later paintings showcasing the growth of his artistry. Sculpture lovers would appreciate the vast collection here, as well as those interested in seeing his major works though be aware the Guernica is in Madrid. I highly recommend spending an afternoon here, but be aware there's at least an hour's wait at times!

A feast for the eyes and perhaps the most intelligent layout of any art museum I've seen--chronologically. Can be done in an afternoon, but I'd give an entire day if you're a Picasso fan. One interesting tidbit: In the collection of his paintings during the "Blue Period," there's a startling painting done in the realism stlye; it's as if the Master was saying, "look I can paint like anyone else--I just choose not to." There's also a fair cafe & a lovely garden with his sculptures when you need a rest.

If you love Picasso you will love this museum, the largest collection of Picassos in one place. The curation is a bit random. Definitely get the audio guide. That really helped tie things together for me. Book tickets online in advance to avoid queuing.
