一个朋友为我们安排了这间酒店，我们也不了解这里。我们之前参观过美术馆，但是我们不知道还有这个地方。一辆巴士会带你去那里，然后你会被带进房子里。建筑、艺术作品和景色真的很漂亮，需要用心体会。很迷人。如果你去过几次夏威夷，期待做一些不同的事，我强烈推荐这里，如果你对艺术和建筑感兴趣，特别是清真艺术的话。这里真像是繁华城市中心的一片绿洲。去吧，会让你惊喜的。

整个岛上面的酒店价格比别的地方贵很多，所以选一个一般性的五星级酒店，还不如多花几百块住到香格里拉，他们家的日落非常漂亮。服务也是首屈一指。

这里就像贵族的家，建造这种地方，钱根本不是个问题。大海就在前方，还可见船只，记得提前几个月预订，因为很快就会订满，旅行中人也不多。很棒的酒店

Located on the other side of Diamond Head to gaudy Waikiki, and a world away, this stunning private residence was built in the 1930s for heiress and philanthropist Doris Duke. The decoration, art and object represent her fascination with the Middle East, North Africa and South East Asia, around which she travelled extensively during her lifetime. The house has been open to the public since 2002, though if you want to visit you'll have to join one of the guided tours, which begin from the Honolulu Museum of Art (note: these must be pre-booked and operate Wed-Sat only; transport is provided). The collection itself is as visually striking, as it is varied - especially noteworthy are the extensive collection of Islamic tiles and textiles.

I've stepped into my fair share of mansions in my lifetime, however I rarely ever feel compelled to say I want to live in any particular one... until now. Doris Duke's Shangri La is elegant and understated, culturally significant as a work of art as much as it is a pinpoint in American history. The heiress's estate is filled with Islamic art, painstakingly ported from the Middle East and maintained by a dedicated staff. Located right by the water along one end of Diamond Head Crater, it's perhaps the most beautiful house I've ever been in.

Sara's absolutely right--if you thrive on art, history, architecture or beautiful landscapes, you'll really enjoy this museum. Shangri La contains one of the best collections of Islamic art in the country and is set right on the oceanfront near Diamond Head. Reservations in advance are necessary, as the small tours can be booked weeks in advance. I'm one of the docents--say hi if you come for a visit!

I know the phrase "hidden gem" is a total travel cliche, but there's no other way to describe this place. Doris Duke's former mansion near Diamond Head is stuffed full of Islamic art collected during her world travels. The pieces span several centuries and even more countries. Docent-guided tours are uniquely personalized, so even if you've been here before, you might learn something new on a second visit. If nothing else, the ocean views from the backyard are incredible.Make tour reservations in advance. Tours leave from the Honolulu Academy of Arts (an A+ art museum) in downtown Honolulu, and take about 2-1/2 hours. This is an awesome rainy-day activity on Oahu, because the house looks completely different when it's dark and they turn the inside lights on.
