We stayed here for a week from Sept 27th as a party of 3 adults and 3 children,9,9 and 11. We had a 2 bed apt on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool. Its a lovely, small but quiet resort. It's perfectly suited for couples who want a quiet relaxing break away, but to be honest, it's not really suitable for children. There is no entertainment day or night and nothing whatsoever to do in the complex at night. I was so disappointed with this and it really took from the holiday. A large majority of the residents were of an older generation, as I believe this used to be a time share complex, so you kind of felt you had to keep the kids quiet and stop them splashing in the pool as a few older guests would throw a dirty look and mutter to their partner about having gotten a bit wet..! Our children were bored after the first day. The pool is nice and heated, but its too small. It narrows in the middle which made it kind of awkward when you're swimming. There are plenty of sunbeds and to be fair, there was no 'sunbed war'..! Yes you had the 7am sunbed snatchers, but there was always free beds The room was ok, bedrooms were a good size but the sitting room was tiny for 6 people. The table and chairs encroached so much into the free space between the couch and the table and then when the couch was pulled out for the kids to sleep, you couldn't pass between the 2 as there was no room..! The TV in the room wasn't smart and I hadn't brought our Chromecast with us so the kids were stuck with a TV with zero English speaking channels..! Oh and only 1 bathroom between 6 people was a big challenge let me tell you..!! NO AIR-CONDITIONING..! This was a truly awful experience. Just a ceiling fan in each room blowing warm air all over the place. It was so bad, one of our kids was up vomiting and couldn't sleep one of the nights because of the heat, it was so stuffy. Hard to believe that in that climate the Apts don't have Air-con..! The balcony was a good size though and nice to be overlooking the pool, but the handrail was covered in bird poo from all the pigeons. I don't think they clean that at all . The fuse board tripped out a few times one morning at 4am leaving us with no fans for about an hour.. Also we woke one morning to someone working on the outside of out balcony. I walked out and there was a man on scaffolding hacking away at the plaster..! I totally understand that repairs are necessary but we were annoyed that we were not made aware the day before that maintenance work would be carried out at 9am on our balcony..! I relayed all these issues to reception and they apologized about the lack of notice but offered little to no resolution to the lack of Air-con in the room. The food was a little hit and miss. I mean the breakfast was nice and there was a huge spread of everything you could ask for, but there was no orange juice. Instead it was diluted orange..! Ok so have read a few negative reviews just returned from a 10 night stay here first time visit I am of a mid life generation have been on quite a few sun holidays so let's begin we arrived at 12 midday approx had read term of the hotel knew rooms not ready until 3 pm did pre check in had clothes on top of case to change to left our cases in luggage room granted no lock one of the reviews that said they had to take all there personal stuff from their cases maybe I'm a bit odd but I have all my personal stuff in my back pack so off we went for lunch with our back pack returned at 3pm room ready 6 floor sea view as requested our door would not open after 3 attempts mantaince man sorted it on the plus side large apartment first time in all my years there was a bottle of champagne 2 glasses and a large bottle of water on the table also 2 glasses in the bathroom for toothbrush decent wine glasses absolutely loads of hot water shower might be antique but it worked well wi fi very good apartment cleaned every day except 2 days and we were given list at reception as to those 2 days towels changed placed cleaned pillows amazing fabulous view pool we did not avail of but it was amazing so clean and quite fabulous ( to those that want lilos and music please go further down the street there are loads of hotels with boom boom music and noise if that's what you at twice the price ) staff were lovely and friendly in the dealings we had with them now the negative to me these are not big thinks but I'm writing my view of the place bathroom door no lock toilet roll holder broken shower curtain could do with replacing kitchen presses could do with an upgrade and certainly at different time the press under the sink smelt musty but this smell did not travel beyond the press while we were there, also it is a 7 minute walk to the beach and a slight uphill returning there are 3 supermarkets on the doorstep and 1 Indian 1 Chinese and 2 restaurant within a few meters did not try any so cannot comment all in all this I think is a 3 star hotel you get what you pay for if you want 5 star do not pay 3 star prices would definitely return

My wife and I stayed seven days at Sunset Harbour as part of a three stay vacation at three Diamond Resort Apartment units. Sunset Harbour is a regular choice as part of our Dimond Resort Membership and we have been coming here for over 25 years. The complex is built around two large pools, one deep, filled with sea water, the second larger pool is more shallow in parts for kids to play in filled with fresh water. The pools and the complex are very clean and tidy, with excellent little supermarket on site if required. There are kids clubs, granny clubs, and activities in the complex run by enthusiastic staff members. Or you can relax by the pool swim and cool in a limited degree. I say this as the only down side of the complex was some very poor sun beds, that have been sat on by some grossly weight persons. Plus many umbrellas that just cannot be opened easily even by those helpful muscular pool attendants with bulging muscles and square jaws. There is two Restaurants on site offering a wide once of meals. But with plenty others on offer just 50 m away outside the complex. The complex is very close to the main Fanabe sea front which hosts numerous, eating houses, shops and bars, there is no shortage these types of offerings. The apartments are clean, well maintained with air con and balcony with sun beds and table and chairs. If like us, you like to have some meals in then a small but adequate kitchen provides all the services of oven and hob with all the kitchen appliances you can work with to cook your own meals. An added advantage are two very good supermarkets on the right as you exit the top gate. The largest is One shop, turn right on exiting the gate and can be found on the left about two hundred yards on the left just tucked back from the street. This is a valuable asset if you like cooking in with fresh meats and cheese a speciality. We bought T bone and sirloin steak and a selection of fresh veg, which was fantastic at competitive prices. The smaller supermarket on the right before the One Shop, is a great place to get bread or fiz or beer and other breakfast and food items. There was no night entertainment on sight when we were visiting in Sept. It’s a plus if you like to sleep early, but entertainment is only a stones throw away. A great place to stay, but please management, nvest in time to **** out that terrible pool furniture.
