PPaw5566Very Disappointing Stay – Not Suitable for Foreign Guests
We came to Wanda expecting it to be a convenient, one-stop destination for accommodation and skiing. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing.
1. Poor Support for Foreign Guests
As foreigners, we are not familiar with using WeChat mini programs. We expected the hotel staff to assist us, since everything needed to be booked through the app. However, the check-in counter staff were not trained to help foreign guests at all. We wanted to book ski suits and a ski coach directly at the hotel, but we were repeatedly told to “book on WeChat.”
Even after explaining that we did not know how to use the app, the staff simply brushed us off. In the end, I had to ask my local guide to arrange a ski coach elsewhere, and we did not ski in Wanda at all because of this very poor service.
2. Check-in Process Was Unhelpful
We were told that hotel registration must be completed on the WeChat app. Again, we explained that we did not know how. Instead of assisting us, the staff kept asking us to “go back to the room and do it ourselves.” This is not suitable for international travellers who may not speak Chinese or know the system.
3. Room Issues in Extreme Cold Weather
During our stay, it was -20°C outside, yet the heater in the room was not working properly. Our children fell sick with fever. The windows were not sealed properly, and cold wind kept coming in. The door also kept beeping even though it was closed tightly. In such harsh winter conditions, this is unacceptable.
4. Chaotic Breakfast Experience
Breakfast was always overcrowded. Staff showed no pride in their work and did not manage the situation. There were six of us, yet we were assigned a four-seater table and were expected to squeeze. It was clear that no one was supervising or caring about guests’ comfort.
Overall
Our stay was far from what we expected. This hotel operates like a self-service property, where guests are expected to know how to use WeChat mini programs, book everything themselves, and manage their own arrangements. It is not a one-stop service destination.
For international travellers, especially families with children, I do not recommend this hotel. The lack of assistance, poor room conditions in extreme cold, and disappointing service made our experience very unpleasant.
