Grupotel Rocador - Adults Only

WE are both vegan and a little worried that we would find food we could eat; In fact the vegan food was excellent and this hotel is highly recommended for the quality of its food which is all buffet style. The hotel itself is well designed and kept very clean, the staff are pleasant and attentive. Again highly recommended.

Would of given 5 star if the rooms were of 4 star standard but sadly they’re not, the rooms have been made smaller than they were when the Rocador was independent and they are in need of modernisation to bring them to the 4 star standard rooms now offer, simple things like plug sockets with USB ports, decent towels rather hard old towels that were no longer white, a shower unit you can actually bend over in without banging your head or bum, missing complimentary toiletries other than the standard shower gel on the wall and the one by sink that needed replacing as the print was coming off the bottle, there was 1 bottle of water in the room on arrival we expected to get a fresh one every day as we have this in tui 4 star hotels before but this wasn’t the case, they also charge extra to use the Bali beds which you also had to book which again we have had free in other 4 star hotels, the jacuzzi/whirlpool next the indoor was closed up so couldn’t use it, the Bar down by the beautiful terrace that over looked wasn’t open so we had to go up the steps through the hotel to the pool bar to get drinks and back through and down the steps again to sit there and enjoy the view, so the Tui Blu experience we were expecting didn’t really live up to expectations, we also had a tour booked through tui app and wasn’t informed that the pick up time had been changed so missed out on a tour which then caused a lot of stress and and a whole day of having to go backwards and forwards to the rep to sort out the refund. The main pool isn’t heated so for early in the season it was really cold and quite uncomfortable to stay in, the sea was actually warmer, the balcony we had was very small with 2 chairs and a little table no room for an umbrella or sun beds, we only had breakfast which was a great selection but the hot buffet was luke warm, and not enough sausages as they were taken very quickly and not replaced with more, again being in other 4 star tui hotels we have had a hot breakfast cooked to order so was surprised to see it was buffet although you could have an omelette cooked to order if you wanted one for breakfast, on the upside the beds are very comfortable and the pillows were great, The Actual location of the hotel is superb it is directly on Cala gran cove with direct access onto the beach, the main entrance leads out onto the street were there is a couple of bars and a very good restaurant on the corner and supermarket opposite, you are also minutes away from the main square lots of lovely boutique shops, bars and restaurants, we would stay at this hotel again purely for its location and the fact the hotel was clean with comfy beds now that we know what to expect which is basically 3 star standard from the rooms

It’s dated, we were put in a disabled room which is fine but it was just grim feeling, rusty taps, shower didn’t work, just a big open grungy room for bathroom. Like it hadn’t been used in years. Cig burns in sheets. Office ceiling tiles. Room right next to where entertainment was but luckily that finished early - could hear everyone passing the door. Beds were comfy in fairness. Bar in reception is nice but super quiet even though we were told hotel was full. Maybe could make it cosier by not have lights on full blast. The staff were lovely and hard working, especially the staff in the breakfast room. Thought breakfast was okay, usual buffet fare. Pool was nice, indoor one was scruffy sadly it rained for the 3 days we were there. We did beg to move rooms - which they weren’t going to do but we didn’t budge. Was much better hence 3 stars. TUI you need to invest or make it a budget hotel, and refurbish the disabled room!

This hotel is in a great location for shops, bars, restaurants and the beach and really that is its only redeeming feature. As so many have said this is 2 hotels joined together with all the facilities on one side, if you are on “the wrong side” be prepared to navigate the maze of a place to get to breakfast or the pool. Anyone who has mobility issues this place is not for you as whilst there is a lift there are so many steps inside & outside you can’t get anywhere easily. The place is dated & not that clean, the sheets didn’t fit the bed, the towels were grey ripped and minuscule. It’s like something from the 1970’s having to go to another hotel to eat & use their pool cause you picked a cheap hotel, however this isn’t a cheap hotel, TUI give themselves a 4 T rating 🤣🤣 more like 2. Breakfast cold and congealed a couple of times so gave the hot offerings a miss , the toasting machine which was temperamental at best, took 3 goes to get toast and even then would often hold on to it until it was black! They decided a couple of nights into our stay that they would close the bar in the main entrance area of the hotel at 7pm so if you were staying on the “wrong side” of the hotel you had to traipse through the maze and back if you fancied a drink before bed. TUI Blue! No TUI Poo!

We have just returned from 5 nights at this hotel and I honestly cannot fault it. We will definitely be returning. This hotel is a 3 star hotel and yet it has qualities of a 5 star hotel. We arrived and given directions to our room on the 4th floor. The room was lovely and clean. The bed was huge and comfortable. There was complimentary water on arrival and a kettle with tea and coffee that was replenished daily. We have travelled all over and yet never stayed in a hotel that 1. Had so many English channels on the tv and 2. Had a safe which can be used free or charge so we were immediately impressed. We booked half board which means drinks are not included so we understood that we had to pay for drinks, unlike other reviews I have read. It was very cheap to upgrade from bed and breakfast to half board so I wasn’t expecting anything amazing. We attended dinner on the first night and I was shocked at how many options there were. There is also a chef cooking fresh meat and fish. The food was wonderful, the restaurant is large so there isn’t any queuing involved. We said to each other I wonder if there is going to be anything bad? We thought maybe breakfast? But nope!! Breakfast was great, everything you can think of. We went the full duration of the stay and couldn’t fault a single thing. If you walk out of the doors at reception you are (almost immediately) in the main square where all the restaurants and bars are and if you go out the back door and down some steps you open a gate onto Cala gran beach- location is 5 stars!! I requested a sea view if possible and was given it and we were told on the last day we could keep our room if we wanted it until our late checkout. I have been returning to this Gem of a Hotel since 1968 when came with my parents and sister . I almost should not be giving such a review to keep it a secret ! Such a wonderful welcome by Beatriz at Reception and my favorite room with welcome cheese,cold meats and bread with fruit and I large bottle of water . The room was spotless as usual and freshly decorated. Jose the Restaurant manager was so wonderful and welcoming to with Susanna ,Antonia ,Pedro, all the wonderful staff from Gardiner to maintenance to Tui Guides , room maids so professional and fastidious.All smile and give a big Mallorcan warmth that makes all the difference to this hotel with a fabulous location , excellent restaurant with amazing selection at breakfast and Dinner . Everything you need is so close with the location,fabulous shops and Marina even a train bus that takes you for €5 all the way around Cala dor in 50 minutes . Some reviews comment on navigation around hotel and I think this would be easier if signage said Reception in lift and signs on walls instead of welcome lounge .i like the variation you can have to spend time on fabulous beach so easy and quick to get to or in beautifully maintained gardens on sun beds or pool area . I find it if of the best ways to meet people by helping with directions around the hotel ! I will be back again in October 🥰

First thing I must say the staff are fantastic and helpful. The hotel or as we found out ‘hotel’s’ need to find its purpose in life. It’s got all you need but seems to lack soul. I think when the two hotels joined together they didn’t know where to put bits. The bar is lovely but never busy. It could do with some entrainment eg piano playing. The outdoor pool and entertainment area was inclosed and uninviting. Indoor pool cold, sauna out of service. Gym was good with a good view of the beach. Food repeated a lot but tasty and even better when I found where the hot plates were kept. Room’s definitely need updating, air con was quite on the lowest speed. The door to the balcony only locked at the top. Reported it but still the same when we left. Hotel very quite and we could just see the beach and sea which was a much better view than the pool view. Town-a lot of restaurants, bars and tourist shops packed in. Lovely beach thou can get very busy. Hotel and town clean, unlike England no dog poo or stray animals around. Overall lovely hotel but could do so much better. Suggest for over 60s and those who don’t mind long distance travelling for days out

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Rocador, the pool, beach and staff were all excellent. You can’t fault the food in the buffet restaurant there is something for everyone at this hotel. a very short walk to the bars, shops and restaurants of Cala d'or. The rooms are great for an active stay but if you’re looking for a room with a view or that's cool to sit out on then pay for the pool or sea view upgrade, our balcony was overlooking the reception area which meant from 3:00pm you couldn't sit out as it was too hot as your directly facing the sun. My only negative to the hotel was the breakfast on departure day. We had an early flight, before the restaurant would normally open, but I was informed they would open at 3:00am for early flights, big thumbs up. But there was no thought into what was available. no milk, no cereal, toasters not switched on. we had a vast array of cheese, meat, olives and pickles?? and some yoghurt, the chefs priority's were all wrong taking time to lay out his cheeses and pickles? instead of offering something we could eat for breakfast, we left hungry and grumpy. Overall an amazing hotel in an amazing location, just sort the breakfast out on departure day. Top tip - get a pool or sea view if you want to use your balcony, if you’re out of the room more than in it then don't worry.
