My wife and I spent a couple of nights at this fine establishment and really enjoyed our stay. If you are after simple but very comfortable accommodation, this will fulfil your needs. The accommodation's tariff is very affordable and is of a classic 1960s motel style. The motel rooms are situated behind the far more historical pub, constructed, I would guess, in the late 1800s. The pub also provides excellent meals. We ate there on a Saturday night and there was a terrific female solo who seemed to know a few hundred songs. Her performance was loved by the locals which provided a great atmosphere. Service was accompanied by a very genuine smile and we were looked after by a lovely young bloke named Cam.

Quiet rooms at the back of the motel were convenient and comfortable for a one night stay on the way to Tasmania. The hotel dining room gave good selection of basic pub style meals. The best aspect was the friendliness of the staff at both desk, bar and management level where small personal contacts made for an enjoyable stay

Stayed at the motel behind the hotel beds were clean nice fresh linen. Room was dated and still under repair. Chairs were old vinyl but had holes in them. Windows were wiped but had dirty wipe marks on them . No bowls , plates or cutlery . Kettle had seen better days. Toaster was fine. Bar fridge was clean but precariously situated on the bench. Shower was good pressure , however the cover on the exhaust fan was falling down and there was spiderwebs on the window and I’ll matched repairs to the window frame we’re in progress.

The accommodation was OK for the one night stop over. It is tired and in need of a reno and some colourful paint. The room was clean and comfortable, but the (bathroom) sink was not in the bathroom - it was near the fridge. So, it is not possible to shave or apply makeup without disturbing any sleeping partner with noise or lights.

We visited two other hotels before deciding on the Country Club Hotel for lunch. One wasn't open yet and the second had a dismal atmosphere, poor lighting and no other customers. The decor in the Country Club was a credit to them, especially the dining area, with white linen and comfortable chairs and nice local photographs of years gone by. Two of our party ordered slow cooked beef cheeks and my wife chose Atlantic salmon - both were perfect. My choice of lamb shanks was very under-cooked and sent back. I had the beef cheeks instead and they were perfect. The chef realised something was wrong with the shanks and pulled the lot of them for re-assessment and re-cooking. Very friendly and top marks. A free beer would have been nice for the inconvenience of waiting though!
