This hotel has recently moved across to the IHG portfolio and it is clear that a considerable upgrade has taken place. We stayed for one night, room only, booking a premium king room at a very reasonable midweek price. We had a very professional and friendly welcome at reception, recognising our status with IHG. The parking - which cost £5 for 24 hours- was organised by them. The hotel itself is well situated near to the cliffs and is typically for the age, rambling and extensive with high ceilings. There is a Costa and a Marco Pierre White restaurant which we did not try. We avoided breakfast as we both felt that at £16.95 per person, it was excessive. Our room was really impressive. It clearly had just been renovated. It had some nice touches- a mini fridge had a large bottle of both still and sparkling water and the tea and coffee selection not only had a coffee machine but coffee bags and biscuits. The bed and bed linen was superb - admittedly everything was new but it was really lovely. A huge TV was in the room along with a full length mirror with a nearby power point- something that is rare. There was air conditioning which worked really well too. The bathroom was well planned and had high quality fittings. Apothecarie products were included too. Unfortunately the shower leaked significantly- the glass had not been correctly filled into the shower tray. High quality towels were included too. We were both very impressed with this hotel. We would happily return and would highly recommend it. It was a far better choice than one of the chain hotels that are prevalent.
