Very arrogant service coming from the top management of the hotel. Senior hotel staff cater to a select few local "royalties" by assigning them the best rooms, centrally located tables at the restaurant and going out their way in meeting their every wish. All other (especially new and non-German speaking) guests are completely ignored and are relegated to the far south corner of the hotel with cheap tiles on the floor and even cheaper and tasteless art on the walls. It has a look and feel of a 3* property at best with the view of a fence and a parking lot. The manager of the restaurant is the worst. Self-important, never says yes to anything and seems annoyed at most clients' requests. Unacceptable. There are a few nice junior staff who are trying their best but their good efforts are easily overshadowed by the factors mentioned above. For this money there are plenty of other places with the right attitude and service.

Its a very nice hotel, so I will just point out aeas which are not 5 stars for sure: - water at dinner (half board) is 10 euros, or 5 for tap - its quite annoying - no water in rooms unless you order from room service for 15 euros - no heat adjustment in the rooms - salad bar and cheese selection pretty average - there is a normal a la carte menu for dinner, not just the daily selection, but unless you ask you are not told - no owners or manager to greet guests at dinner (which happens in pretty much all austrian hotels) Seems like the hotel needs some attention… these are all minor points but all together they just add up…

We had two weeks booked through Crystal ski holidays. As soon as you arrive you are made welcome. All the staff are fantastic and the training they receive is exemplary. The restaurant staff get two weeks training and it shows. A special mention must be made for Carmen and Magda who looked after us very well. The Von Der Thannen family hotel is superb. The rooms, the spa, swimming pools, decor, cleanliness and of course the restaurant of forty chefs run by Martin Sieberer are amazing. Our meals were simply amazing. This is a very special hotel and well deserves all its accolades. Thank you to the entire team for an unforgettable experience.

Just returning home from a family ski trip staying at this stunning hotel. My wife and I travel very frequently to some extremely good hotels and I have to say that the Trofana falls into that category. The hotel is truly 5*. The amenities are excellent - the spa is just a great place to be. The food is truly amazing and the staff just compliment the excellence of this hotel. Ok - I see that some people moan that they charge for water and drinks are a little pricey. All I would say is that if you want excellence then don’t moan if you have to pay a little more. Thank you to all of the staff who made our stay so wonderful. As for some practicalities, the location is in my opinion in the best part of the town and only a 2 minute walk from a gondola - even in ski boots. There are some great aprez bars close by. The ski room is spacious and it is possible to ski back within 5 metres of the ski room door. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and can honestly say the service is 5 star. We did have a misunderstanding but if the management is anything like the service we experienced i am sure we will reach a mutual understanding.

I'm sat in the airport waiting to fly home after the most perfect week at this wonderful hotel, so I thought I'd write a little review... We had high expectations but they were exceeded, everything was perfect! The food really is incredible and everyone in the restaurant works extremely hard to make sure you have a wonderful experience. Special mentions must go to Kevin, Carmen and Roxanne who made us feel very welcome and provided exceptional service throughout our stay. Head chef Martin Sieberer often wandered through the restaurant keeping a watchful eye over the buffet sections and he was happy to chat away to guests. We bought a copy of his recipe book in the hope of attempting to recreate some of the mouthwatering dishes when we get home. Our room was spacious, had everything we needed and was kept immaculate by the hard working cleaners all week. Our balcony was huge and overlooked the pool. The room was a bit too warm at times, even when we tried to turn the temp down but we just slept with the window open. The spa was one of the best I've been to, I loved the outdoor hot tub, relaxation rooms and all the massage jets in the pool. A lot of the other spa facilities such as salt room, infra red sauna etc are in the nude section but I went in wearing my swimming costume, it was fine. There's a really nice bar area in the spa, along with a gym, golf simulation area and pool table, it was excellent and I wish I had used the facilities more! You can ski almost to the door of the hotel as the red run #1 ends just beside it and there's a fantastic ski/boot room where you get an allocated locker to use with your room key. I would highly recommend this hotel, the location, room, staff, food, service and spa were all fabulous and we really appreciated the little gifts and special touches that were provided to make our stay extra special. We would love to return one day!!
