Great Place i can highly recommend. Very nice and helpful staff. The Hotel is very Clean and everything is working well. The Pool area is lovely and invites to hang out. It was already my second time staying at Aluna Paje and it was as Great as the First time.

We recently stayed for seven nights (myself and my two daughters - one adult and one child). Location is amazing - right on the beach with picture book views from the room and the balcony. The swimming pool was a welcome addition and the restaurant always delivered great Italian food. Breakfast was plentiful. On a few nights, we took a short walk along the beach to try out some of the other restaurants but nothing compared. The staff just couldn’t do enough and were very friendly. The resort is small (just 15 rooms) and is located at the quieter end of Jambiani so not too busy. Airport transfers worked perfectly (you have to request them in advance) and the hotel arranged some unforgettable custom day trips for us. The room was basic and quite small but more than adequate for what we needed. We were treated a few times to the colobus monkeys in the trees right next to our balcony and you can hear the gentle crashing of waves in the room. If I had to be picky - a fridge, kettle and safe in the room would have been useful. Otherwise no complaints and this is right up there as one of our favourite holidays ever.

Overall our experience was negative. The overall setting of the hotel seems nice (to take picture) but : 1/ The beach and sea are not enjoyable AT ALL. I know the Residence cannot do anything against it ... but still, when you come in Zanzibar, you come mostly for the beach. Most of the time beach is just a mix of mud and garbage (such as shoes, cans, packages of all kinds and including plastic bottles from the Residence Hotel ...) which is not what you expect when you come to Zanzibar. We have been in other hotels in Zanzibar (e.g., Be Zanzibar) and it was not the case at all. Only for this reason I would not come to this hotel again. Do not underestimate this when you select your hotel. 2/ Poor and chaotic service due to a very weak English for 80% of the team - We asked for several stuff or services (e.g., towel in the room etc.) for which there was absolutely no follow up. 3/ The pool is completely abandoned by the staff =＞ i) not enough pool loungers (after 9 am there is no seat available and we saw families putting their towels on the ground to be near the pool ...) ii) not enough towels iii) chaotic management of the bar and restaurant by the pool (one day it is okay, another day there is nobody and you have to chase someone to get something and nobody comes to pick up your glass or dish afterwards ...). We mentioned these issues to several team members, the only answer we got was ”okay - hakuna matata” ... well, it is good for you not to worry, but you should still pay attention to what the customer says ... 4/ There is an obvious lack of investment in the hotel (e.g., floor by the pool risks to breakdown in several places ... as it already did on the jetty during our stay...) 5/ Last and not least: The hotel failed to call our taxi at 3 am for our way back to the airport. When we arrived (super late) at the airport, our chauffeur (FROM THE RESIDENCE) LOCKED US (my wife, my two young kids and myself) in his car and threaten to CALL THE POLICE because i) we had 5 USD missing (we had only 90 USD when the transfer costed 95 USD) ii) he did not accept credit card. The most funny (or craziest or saddest) thing is that 1/ we were super late BECAUSE OF THE RESIDENCE (they failed to call a taxi while we were leaving at 3am and we asked several times the day before if everything was okay / booked…) 2/ we were supposed to have an external taxi (which was supposed to cost 60 USD and not 95 USD - and we had only 90 USD in cash left...) We were fortunate enough to find a working ATM at the airport and give the chauffeur his 5 USD (while we spent something like 10k USD for a week). I wrote to the Residence staff for this issue and their answer was “ We understand that the behavior of the taxi driver was inappropriate, however, we must adhere to our standard policy and collect payment for the service provided.” ???????? You should just be ashamed!!! they also pretend that we lie and we did not ask for a taxi ... How crazy is this? Locking your cus

My fiancé and I visited Karafuu over New Year - a trip that we had planned in March 2023 already. After numerous emails with hotel management, we were pleased upon our arrival to see that all requests had been attended to. Our room was beautiful- sitting on the cliffs with a very clear view of the ocean. The staff were all very friendly and the overall hygiene was impressive. However, it was downhill from there. Our aircon in the room did not work the first night - and as we only arrived at 2am, we were desperate for much-needed sleep which was impossible in the heat and humidity. We complained to management the next day and they sent maintenance to our room to inspect - the answer they gave us was that there was a voltage issue all over Zanzibar and that their generator was not able to meet the requirements 24/7. We asked them to please just keep the generator on during the night as that was when everyone would be in their rooms - but our request fell on deaf ears as we did not sleep yet again. This carried on for another 3 days whereby maintenance kept being sent to our room even though they could not fix the issue. We were highly annoyed as Karafuu is supposedly a 5-Star hotel - but without aircon! My fiancé and I eventually resorted to sleeping outside on the patio with make-shift beds. Really not on!! Luckily it wasn’t mosquito season but we were utterly disgusted about this situation. You cannot not have aircon when you are a 5-star beach resort with ＞30 degrees Celsius heat and 90% humidity every day! As for the food…. we were expecting fresh seafood every day but were very disappointed with what we were given. None of the seafood was fresh - in fact it smelt so bad that neither my fiancé or I even wanted to eat it. I decided to give it a try on two nights and both times regretted my decision. We both had upset tummies every single day - most likely due to the very poor refrigeration of all the food. On New Year’s Eve, the people sitting next to us threw up due to the rotten shellfish that was served at the buffet - and we had to pay $80 supplement per person! My fiancé ended up having 2 pieces of pineapple for dinner - the most expensive meal we have ever paid for. We chose to do the half board option instead of all-inclusive and just as well because the all-inclusive drink list was so limited that most people had to spend additional money anyway so that they could have what they wanted. All in all, we enjoyed the pool, beach and people but won’t be rushing back to Karafuu. You really need to up your game with basic amenities such as aircon, as well as your food - otherwise you might be down rated to a 3-star hotel in the near future.

😀 I contacted the hotel to inform them of my 0400 arrival. They welcomed myself and my daughter with a warm welcome. The bedroom was beautiful with a lovely large bed. The, which was decorated with red petals. We didn’t want to mess up the petals🤓🤓. mattress was excellent qualitygood . The bathroom was a lovely size. I enjoyed my showers, but had to get use to the very salty water, which made my skin itchy at times. I have very sensitive skin ( No fault of the hotel 🤓). Bathroom toiletries smelt lovely. The staff are all amazing. Hamadi, Ayubu, Dayana and Alan 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. The owner was very attentive and would ask the guests how they are. The restaurant area and lounge area are large and clean. The pool area in front of the restaurant is large and clean. My favourite area of the hotels is the jetty area. There is a beautiful pool down in that area, where myself and my daughter requested a floating breakfast. It was paradise. The floating breakfast was an additional USD$30. I strongly recommend it. Hamadi and Alan brought the floating breakfast singing to us. It was amazing. My daughter enjoyed the jet ski. She was in her element. The restaurant food was lovely and cooked to perfection. Well done to the 🧑🏾🍳. I love that the hotel is calm, private and secluded. Away from the hustle, bustle and noise. If you want a peaceful and relaxing stay Blue moon resort is the one for you! Thank you Blue moon for a wonderful stay! I would strongly recommend this hotel 💯%. The hotel arranged a phone with the pharmacist and they delivered my daughter’s tablet to us. 😡 The road leading to the hotel needs attention. It’s very very bumpy and uncomfortable. The bedroom/bathroom needs a brighter light. Too dim. I’m a vegetarian and have a fish/seafood allergy and felt limited to the food choices in the evenings. I had vegetarian curry or vegetarian pasta. I didn’t like the vegetarian burger.

素晴らしい
ゲゲストAs the name implies, these are serviced apartments, it’s not a hotel. The location is slightly further from the beach than most tourist conveniences, but Paje is not big (we’re talking anbout 350m), and not being on the centre of tourism suits me better. It is quiet, has everything one needs, and John, the manager, was great. I would definitely stay here again.
The only thing I might suggest was a discomfort, was that when we had one of the notorious big island-wide blackouts for almost 12 hours, Nebo wasn’t the most prepared. I actually come from a country that has struggled with constant electricity for several years. Generators, solar lights, and more than anything, reassurance for tourists who may not know the area, are useful. The cooker is gas, and cellphones come with torches, so I was completely fine. It just would have been good I think, given how quiet it was, to check.
I’d still recommend it.

ゲゲストAbbiamo alloggiato per 6 giorni con mia moglie in una delle stanze di Shanuo a Zanzibar dopo una settimana di safari in Tanzania. Abbiamo scelto di non soggiornare in resort e puntare su una location più immersa nella realtà locale. La scelta non poteva essere migliore, ci siamo pentiti di non aver fatto 1/2 giorni in più! La stanza non é troppo spaziosa ma ha tutto il necessario. La terrazza e la vista spiaggia / mare sono impagabili! Si ha accesso diretto al mare da Shanuo con l'alta marea e la struttura dispone di vari lettini e materassi fronte mare per rilassarsi e prendere il sole. La zona, Pingwe, non è troppo turistica, a meno della presenza del celebre ristorante The Rock. Si sta in estrema pace. Ci sono i cosidetti ”beach boys” ma non sono fastidiosi ed insistenti. La spiaggia è meravigliosa, fra le migliori di Zanzibar. Le maree, che si susseguono in due cicli giornalieri, non costituiscono un problema. Con la bassa marea si creano fantastiche piscine naturali. La zona retrostante le strutture sulla spiaggia è occupata da case di locali, i quali non arrecano fastidi o problemi ai turisti ma, anzi, fa sentire maggiormente immersi nella realtà locale. Ci sono tre buone alternative a scelta per la colazione (salata, yogurt e musli, frutta pancake), accompagnate da biscotti, latte, succo, caffè, tea e torta. Le quantità sono più che giuste, evitando gli sprechi dei classici buffet. La struttura non ha ristorante ma sulla spiaggia ci sono almeno 3-4 ristoranti validi, in particolare di fianco a Shanuo c'è il ristorante ”The Wishing Tree” (mix di cucina locale, italiana e internazionale), dove abbiamo cenato divinamente 5/6 sere con sconto per i clienti Shanuo del 15%. Ultimo ma non per importanza, lo staff e la manager, Gillian. Lo staff è composto da ragazzi locali, estremamente disponibili e professionali, tra cui, si vede, c'è un ottimo clima. Gillian è fantastica, sempre a disposizione per qualsiasi necessità dei clienti, soprattutto per organizzare tour ed escursioni grazie ai ragazzi di fiducia della struttura e dare consigli customizzati sulla base delle proprie priorità. Prezzo e rapporto qualità / prezzo imbattibili.

ゲゲストBEWARE!! Lets start with the good points: this hotel is amazing!! The facilities are the best we found in the area, the two pools are better than any of the other hotels, staff are generally amazing and very friendly and the food is incredible, and reasonably priced. The rooms / bungalows are cute and spacious enough for two people. I travelled with my friend, one of us had the main bed and the other had the sofa bed. The main bed is very hard so I preferred the sofa bed for this reason. Cannot fault the cleanliness of the whole hotel! The pool at the front of the hotel gets very hot during the day as it does not have the breeze from the beach, but is slightly quieter. The pool at the rear of the hotel, facing the beach is just beautiful. it slopes down like a beach so is deeper at the far end of each section and the infinity feature makes the water fall down the steps between the two levels of the pools....great photo opportunities. Now for the not so good points: the wifi and phone signal in general within the rooms is terrible, you will need to sit outside to maintain a good signal. It was hit and miss whether we would have working AC all day (especially in the evenings when we were getting ready to go for meals, or trying to sleep) as the power would fail. We were told this is due to the Government turning the electricity off; the hotel does have back up generators but I don't think the AC runs from these (I don't know how true this is, but we were told about the Government issue in multiple places). The main issue we had with this hotel was when we were trying to checkout. Thankfully we had hours to spare as we didn't have to leave until the middle of the night to get our flight so I tried to checkout around 9pm (leaving the hotel at 1:30am to go to the airport). During our stay we had eaten at the hotel restaurant, had drinks etc so we knew we would have some money to pay to settle the bill. However, the hotel tried to overcharge us by approximately $400. This included Government taxes (at $18.23 per night....which they later told our booking agent were only $2-$4 per night) and invoices for items we hadn't ordered. After having to get our booking agent involved at past 10pm on the evening, we finally got the issue resolved around midnight. However, I have a feeling we were not the first people they had tried this on and counted on us leaving our check out so late that we would have no choice but paid the bill. So whilst I recommend this hotel in general, please beware of the checkout and being over charged.

ゲゲストThis hotel needs to seriously rethink itself, at least as as far as my experience is concerned. We had a six day stay, half board in a second floor room with a private pool. It certainly looks good on the outside and the pools and beach are wonderful, but… The pool is a gimmick, maybe fun for kids to splash around in but far to small for use by adults. The hotel decided to do some work on the roof over the terrace and pool while I was enjoying my book seated on the terrace. I had to flee as it rained muck and water from the intervention rendering the terrace and the pool unusable. I expected these to be cleaned once they had finished, but this did not happen and needed a trip to the front desk to resolve. The roof still leaks when it rains, so the terrace is basically unusable. In fact with one downpour the room was almost flooded as the drain was blocked and the water accumulated. Next day, the pool was still dirty. Then the air conditioning in our room decided to malfunction, very likely due to the episode of the previous day, pouring water over our open suitcase just underneath. OK, my fault for leaving it there, but we had to go find housekeeping and maintenance guy to fix and clean. The room itself while spacious, is not aging well. But while I have to admit, these are not daily occurrences, its pretty annoying especially when no apology was forthcoming. More frequent issues relate to the quasi inexistant internet, which when it did function was certainly not high speed. Also, the meals while adequate were not particularly appealing or varied. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed our grilled seafood platter for lunch, which of course was outside our meal plan. The housekeeping and bar staff are all very pleasant but have a tendency to forget things. The nightly turn down service with the anti mosquito spray showed up too late for us each night, While the beach is a short walk away from the hotel, the path is littered with rubbish and shards from broken bottles. It must be said this land is not actually owned by the hotel, but it has to be crossed and best not bare footed. My last gripe relates to the 5% surcharge that they impose for payment by credit card…

ゲゲストIf you want to have a peaceful and relaxing vacation, avoid this hotel at all costs. I stayed there in January 2023 with family and friends. We had already stayed at the Cristal Resort Hotel twice before and we decided to go back again because of the nice location and what used to be ’friendly’ staff. On our 5th night, before we went to bed I checked the door and all of the windows of our ECO bungalow to be sure they were completely locked and secure. In the morning, we woke up to discover that we had been robbed while my parents and I were asleep. The window from the bathroom was wide open and our phones, money (thousands) and 2 bags were gone. We immediately informed the hotel management about this but their only concern was why we had not put our money in the safe box. The answer is very simple- we usually use the safe box when we are out of the room, not while we were asleep. Beyond the fact that someone was in our room while we were asleep, imagine how worse things could have been had we woken up while the thief/thieves were still in the room. The hotel has a huge security problem and they know it very well. In order to open a closed sliding window they must have had a premeditated plan or system to be able to open it successfully from the outside... and not to have any security guards in that area at night is just outrageous. In hindsight I am pretty sure we were being observed. It had all been planned very well and they knew everything in order to succeed - who had the money of the group, where we were sleeping, everything. In the morning, we called the police and after they finally came, out of nowhere, one of the hotel staff called us to show us that they had found our backpacks without any money in them of course. We found our phones inside one of the backpacks without our SIM cards in them and after we switched them on we saw on the Steps App that our things had been stolen at 3 am in the morning and that the thief/thieves only took just 78 steps and stopped right near the fence of the hotel. The police was trying to play things down by saying that we were so lucky we got our phones back. A few hours later, I received a message from the hotel manager saying precisely this: --- I spoke with our broker and I checked our insurance. It covers things like cameras, phones and laptops but not money, because the issue of money is very complex. --- This is another reason that led us to believe that the hotel staff was involved. What an unbelievable coincidence! We only retrieved the things that were not covered by their insurance- our phones. On top of that, they also had the appalling audacity to say that we needed to wait for the police investigation as they needed to find out whether this had happened for real or not, because according to them, nothing actually proved that somebody had robbed us and that we could have orchestrated the whole thing ourselves...Great! They were also putting pressure on us to stop this scandal because

ゲゲストこのリゾートでの特別な滞在。私たちは過去2週間島を旅行しており、これは私たちの旅行の素敵な結末でした。私たちはスタッフの親しみやすさが大好きで、食べ物は良かったです。他のリゾートのビュッフェにうんざりしていたので、夕食のさわやかなセットメニュー。部屋のベッドはとても快適です。サルからの朝の訪問はとても素敵でした。部屋は森に囲まれているので、ゲストにプライバシーを提供します。唯一の欠点は、他のアクティビティから遠く離れており、タクシーが非常に高価であることです。干潮時には泳ぐ水はありません。素敵な滞在でした。
