We were checked in by a lady named Deeksha. She never smiled at any point and we felt like we were being checked into a prison. Instead of welcoming us to the hotel it felt like we were being given strict rules and regulations to abide by. She had no personality to be customer facing. Unfortunately this was our introduction to the hotel and it set a bad tone. Bar service by Jessen was terrible. He pays no attention to you and ignores you. He is rude and abrupt. Fortunately there was other bar staff who were friendly and tried to help given Jessen’s rude behaviour. Also the bar ran out Gin during the day and was unable to source more. That’s ridiculous for a holiday resort that provides all inclusive packages. Poor management. They have a strange policy on towels. If you collect a pool towel. You can only return it after 2 days, whether you want to exchange it or not. Also you can only get it changed after two days. Food was great and chef Renoo was a saviour! We enjoyed her lovely dishes and attention to detail.
Our stay at this hotel was a great experience❤️. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with warmth and professionalism, making us feel right at home. The rooms were spacious, immaculately clean, and beautifully designed, offering all the modern amenities we could have hoped for. The hotel’s location was perfect, providing easy access to local attractions while maintaining a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The dining options were superb, with a variety of delicious choices that catered to every taste. Overall, this hotel exceeded all expectations, and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommended for anyone seeking luxury, comfort, and outstanding service. I recommend you guys to go and have a good time there as it will be a great experience
Our stay at Paradise Cove Hotel was just perfect. We stayed over the Christmas week and we saw the professional and friendly nature of all the staff, particular gratitude to the chefs and all their hard work in those days making the Christmas period special for all the guests. The arrangement of the hotel is such that with the four very different restaurants (3 of which are included in the half board option) you have an ample choice. With the resort’s extensive layout it never feels busy and includes 3 swimming pools and plenty of “love nests“ on the promontory to spend time with just your loved one with magical sea and lagoon views. The management pay particular attention to detail, including in our case, preparing a delicious birthday cake for my husband whose birthday it was during our stay, a Christmas cake and even Christmas gifts for all the clients left in our room. The communal areas were extremely well cared for, including bowls of flowers in intricate designs found throughout the grounds, changed daily. The spa was excellent as was our trip with Jerome on the hotel’s pirogue. The bar staff were also all very professional and friendly, remembering our choice of drink from one night to the next. The rooms were exactly like the photos and were a very good size with ample bathroom too. Overall a perfect location for couples who are looking for tranquillity in an elegant and peaceful atmosphere and to enjoy the Mauritian sunshine.
We are incredibly pleased with our stay at the oberoi hotels. Amazing service from the staff all the way from the reception, housekeeping, restaurant and the management. The staff has a can-do attitude, they will do their best to be flexible and accomodate our request. A big shout-out to the chef, Deepak Kumar for the delicious food; we really enjoyed the food and the overall service and hospitality. Highly recommended, Thank you 🙂
KKarenRats in restaurant
On arrival the hotel is really beautiful - a small oasis tucked away with gorgeous colonial style. The reception staff were really lovely and made us feel welcome.
The room was really nice - but there were a few things we noticed (which we let slide at the start) - massive dirty lipstick mark on one of our water glasses, filthy lampshades above the bathroom sinks, bed linen that didn’t feel particularly fresh and the robes as well had a slight greyish colour rather than bright white which they were meant to be. These were all minor things at the start which we didn’t even mention to each other but did notice.
We then had our first night at the cocktail bar where our drink was served by the lovely barman (very polite and smily) - as we were drinking we saw a huge rat run across the terrace - we decided it was an island and maybe this is normal (although we really weren’t happy about it). We then were dining within the restaurant and again a huge rat was running towards the table. For us, this is not ok. We asked to move tables as we saw a rat and the waiters barely acknowledged it - didn’t offer any apology and then proceeded to avoid our table for the rest of the night. We informed the manager the next day who assured us he was aware and the rat had been caught, and to “give it a chance”. We weren’t offered so much as a complimentary drink. After dining in the restaurant again the second night and again seeing a rat - for us it was time to check out. Not only is it unpleasant seeing rodents running around while eating but I would say it’s a hygiene issue and makes me question the cleanliness of the kitchen and the safety of the food.
The only concession we were offered was to not pay for the remaining nights that we would not be staying for.
Really disappointing. On hindsight some things we would add about the whole experience:
- Not a 5 star in terms of food, service or cleanliness
- Staff really hit and miss - some very friendly some really rude and unhelpful
- Rooms didn’t feel clean
- Food was average - nothing felt fresh including breakfast
- Quite stingey with water - water not replaced within our room (had to ask for it)
We are now staying at a different hotel and haven’t seen one rat, so don’t think this is “just an island thing” as the manager stated. The service and food are also worlds apart which has really solidified that our review of 20 degres sud as completely justified - not a 5 star experience whatsoever.
