Came here to attend the state fair. Now i dont know much about Springfield, but im going to go out on a limb and say the state fair is the most excitement this city gets all year. That said, you would assume all hotels in the area would be fully prepared. Not State House! We arrived at 3 to a lobby full of people. Turns out no one could get a room because they ”werent ready”. Told to come back in an hour. This was the night of the Motley Crue concert so the majority of people were going to that. The one guy at the desk (i think his name was Sid?) was completely overwhelmed and the longer this went on the people got angrier and angrier. 4pm rolls around and still no rooms. People start yelling that they have had reservations since April and they want their room now (we prepaid our room back in June so i get it). We finally get the room at 530. The room was clean-ish but you could tell it was rushed. Pros: the a/c was amazingly cold and the floor we were on was quiet. Location is very central for getting almost anywhere in the city with minimal effort. Ample parking. Cons: aside from the check in debacle - The room had no soap, no extra toilet paper, not enough towels and one pillow was unusable because it had no pillowcase. I didnt expect it, after our check in experience, but no attention was given to the room for the whole four days we were there. The fitness room was gross and dirty. No cups for the water, TV didnt work, no wipes for the machines. Missing hand weights. Included breakfast was terrible looking and i didnt touch it. And i know this is not the current owners fault but WHY would you build a hotel with ZERO windows facing the capital? What a brain dead decision. I feel bad for the workers because they had to deal with a situation that was not their fault, but next time i attend the state fair i wont be staying here.
The hotel is an average property with below-average fees and customer service. The location is good, but there is little to offer here otherwise. The rooms are a bit dated. The showers are in bad need of new nozzles (4in round nozzles with half the sprayers stopped up). Elevators are being renovated and very slow. Absolutely no benefit to Diamond status here: no late checkout, no recognition, no upgrades despite plenty of availability, etc. Fees: $7 parking with no in and out privileges, $75 for late checkout, no water in room, $35+ for a room with a refrigerator (business class or suite only).
CClimber54604367706The hotel was nice but nothing special. The room was clean and everything in the room worked. Checkin and checkout went smoothly. The lobby and breakfast area didn’t seem to be as vibrant as other hotels maybe because of the lighting. There is a restaurant within walking distance, Smokey Bones, where we decided to eat dinner. The food was good and the server was friendly and accommodating. My wife would say the only problem was the TV that didn’t have the Hallmark channel so we didn’t get to watch the Christmas movies. Breakfast was your normal hotel breakfast, but it appeared you were on your own if you had a problem as we didn’t see anyone working the area. Did not use any of the amenities such as pool and exercise area.
At first when we entered the our room it looked small and out-of-date, but we warmed up to it. Our stay was 3 nights. The Pros: Shower was amazing! Staff was quick to get us more towels upon request. We could control the thermostat . Sleeping and breakfast were decent. Breakfast had a good variety: waffle station and coffee bar. Breakfast staff and front desk staff were kind. Cons: Our door made a loud noise when opening and closing. The 1st night had to get used to noises of air conditioner going on and off. The bathroom was not as clean as it could be; I had to wipe up some obvious urine under the toilet seat with lysol wipes. I would say overall a great stay. They have a pool on 1st floor, but no hot tub, plus restrooms in the hallways. There are ice and vending machines on each floor. The hotel is in good proximity to the capital, Lincoln's home and the Lincoln museum, about 10 mins and all located in downtown. His Tomb is about the same distance, but North direction. Route 66 Motorhead Restaurant was South about 10 mins, bit did not think the meal was that great. If you want a simple meal and assortment, Bob Evans is 2 mins from the hotel. If you could only see one thing, see Lincoln's Presidental Museum. You will not be disappointed! It will take 2.5-3 hours to tour. Closes at 5 so plan accordingly. Capital was a short tour , about 20 mins. We stayed about an hour to look around after. The Illinois Museum was okay. Took about 40 mins. The Carriage Restaurant had awesome sweet potatoes and wraps. The Obed and Isaac's Pub and Restaurant had delicious pulled beef tacos. Recommended eateries for downtown. Scoop Dejour is cute ice cream parlor about 5 mins from hotel. The Mall is not too far either if you need to walk those calories off and stay coo! lGreat hotel for family! Camping World is across the street and another hotel right behind the Hampton Inn. Overall, quiet and safe.
Aadharastar73Honestly I had not hear of Northfield Inn before. But it was the best priced hotel in the location we were staying, and the reviews were good. It ticked all the boxes. Good, friendly service. Rooms are large with good supply of amenities. Well located for restaurants, bars, gas stations, etc. We even walked to the place we ate dinner. I was impressed and will look for Northfield Inn locations in the future.
PPamela CLoved our stay here!! CLEAN. Really enjoyed our suite component. Great location for restaurants, activities, interstate, familiar convenient stores...but this also equals traffic congestion. Cindy did an excellent job keeping the food and eating areas clean!
ゲゲストI’ve stayed in a number of Microtels…I’ve always found them to be well kept. The one in Springfield was a disappointment. We arrived nearly two hours after check-in time. Our room wasn’t ready so we were asked to wait in the lobby for several minutes. The lobby decor was nice but the fabric chairs were obviously worn. Our room seemed tired as well. There was a nice window seat but the upholstery was worn and dirty. There was a dirty/wet bath towel hanging on the hook behind the bathroom door. No hand towels. The tv remote was unbearably sticky. The room smelled clean and the beds and pillows were comfy. It was quiet. The hotel has great potential but housekeeping is lacking and maintenance seems to be as well.
