We found this hotel so opulent and beautiful. Pure class and exceptional service from the minute we pulled up for valet parking. We ate lunch in the stunning Firewater Grille. The menu choices, wine selection and service was truly first class. The meals were cooked to perfection. Hubby had a rack of lamb and I had fish of the day. We were advised our room (Junior Club Suite) was ready and were pleasantly surprised on entering at how spacious it was. The TV was much larger than we expected, the pillows on the beds were some of the best we have ever experienced and the bed itself was very comfortable. The views from our room were beautiful overlooking the Swan River over to South Perth. The night views were stunning with all the lights flickering. We had Club access which was also perfect for us. We spent almost two hours there at a window table enjoying the lovely night lights, chatting, relaxing and enjoying the very generous selection of canapes, wine and sprits. Again, the service in there was impeccable. Breakfast at the Firewater Grille provided fantastic food options, hot and cold and there was nothing more we could have wanted. The amazing service by staff continued throughout our whole stay. The Duxton Hotel staff are to be commended for their excellent service and attention to detail. I was so impressed. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself to a short or long stay in this amazing hotel. I guarantee you will be truly spoilt and made to feel special.
Need extra blankets available and need to have room Service on weekends as that’s when most guests would be staying. Currently, the only blanket in the room is very thin so not really warm on a winter night.
Stayed here for 3 nights, arriving after long flight from UK. No problem checking in, room in quiet location as requested. Some construction work going on at back of hotel, but nothing that disturbed me in the evening. Room was clean and had everything I needed for a short stay. Corridor and room carpets could do with replacing, but I guess that is a big expense after the last few years. Breakfast was more than adequate, with plenty of choice. The hot buffet was all fresh and frequently replenished. The young man in the restaurant (sorry I don't know your name), was very helpful and polite. Reception were helpful in booking a very early morning airport taxi for me, and on the morning of departure made certain that I safely got into my taxi. As a solo female traveller, it's the little details like that that mean so much. I would definitely return if i was visiting Perth again
AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE BIG4 … LOOK ELSEWHERE Recently, my wife and I stayed at Big4 Perth Midland Tourist Park. This without doubt would have to be the worst Big4 caravan park that I have ever stayed at, and I have stayed at a few being a Big4 Member. In fact, I would go as far as to say that it is an absolute disgrace to the name of Big4 who would do well to distance themselves from this park. Many of the permanent’s sites, of which there are many, are nothing short of hovels which should be condemned; the ablutions whilst old, really need some proper cleaning and not just a lick and a promise. Hand soap in the ablutions was hit and miss, and garbage bins were continually overflowing and reeked of rotten food (prawns heads, crab shells etc) in the heat. The bins need to be either replaced more often as they become full or moved to a more central area away from sites, and if the permanents must walk a short way to put their rubbish in the bin, then so be it … having them parked outside their vans bringing flies and vermin is unacceptable especially in the heat of summer. Our site had a gutter that was so high that it caught our grey water outlet as we backed in twisting it 90 degrees, but thankfully not breaking the outlet. When we leave, again we expect the high gutter will catch the outlet again and hopefully not break it. Despite the check-in documents saying there is to be no washing of cars and caravans, several times we saw both permanents and campers doing just that … washing their cars etc … no intervention by staff was ever observed telling people to stop this practice. We needed consistent WI-FI as we were selling our house and needed contact both with sales agency and solicitors to facilitate the sale … but the Internet was “spotty and intermittent” every single day of our stay, even in the early hours of the morning when fewer people would be using it. Numerous times a day, I had to reboot my laptop which was extremely disappointing and frustrating when the booster was less than 10 metres from where our caravan was situated. Whilst the staff were fabulous, and accommodating, and the rates competitive, it did not make this stay worth coming back … we will never stay here again. For those looking at staying here, look elsewhere … it is a disgrace!
ゲゲストGreat experience, glad we stayed here! We were on the 28th (top) floor in a Club King room with views looking east over the Cathedral, could see the river, stadiums and as far as the hills. Underground parking. Luxurious couch, bed, bathroom - deep bath, separate rain shower. Service around the hotel was excellent. Very quiet and didn’t feel busy at all. Perfect for relaxation. Spent time at the pool reading and enjoying some sunshine. Loved the modern decor and artwork of the hotel as well as some history around the area. Walking distance to anywhere. Club lounge and Garum (breakfast) had nice food and drinks options - catered for Gluten Free but not amazing - room for improvement there. Lounge atmosphere was quiet, perhaps a little more upbeat music, but only a minor thing. Otherwise, very happy with our choice to stay here for the first time. Good times, didn’t want to leave. ゲゲストMy wife & I had a wonderful staycation last week, from start to end the service both friendly and impeccable. At check-in my Ambassador level was well acknowledged. Our room was clean, comfortable, very quiet, modern, and well appointed. Breakfast at the Hotel's ground floor restaurant, Ivy & Jack, was excellent overall, great service too. However, my wife felt more asian breakfast food would be good, think noodles and cooked asian vegetables with the Fried Rice being vegetarian rather than containing meat. Can well recommend the hotel and it's location.

Be very careful about all the fine print... was charged extra AUD$$150 for not appearing before 6pm at the hotel reception desk. Similar experience with other reviewers. I am here on holiday... not here to attend Court!!! I have receipts and email correspondence so stop pretending that it was not Starwest Apartments Alderneyon Hay but some other private owner as per your response to the other reviewers! I attached the fineprint slip that you slide sneakily under my door threatening to lock me out if I dont register at your reception on the 1st day before 6pm. You then proceeded to lock me out on the first day and extorted AUD$150 from us before letting us back into the room. To think that I booked and already paid in full for 5 days...
