The staff made our trip such a memorable and incredible one. While the room we stayed in wasn’t what we’re used to, as it seemed quite run down, we only slept in it and spent our day at the pool and beach. Our housekeeper was incredible and always filled the room with extra water bottles. Manuel, Saul, Miguel, Javier, Victor Hugo (waiter), Oscar, Guadalupe, and Edgar were especially amazing, making our days here brighter. Everyone was truly incredible and they all made my first Mexico trip special. The wifi could have been better, as it was constantly disconnecting throughout the day. The food was decent as well considering the chefs produce a ton for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Overall a beautiful trip!
We stayed in the VistaPier renovated tower of this hotel ...seems to be two sections : Hotel Delfin ( the older section which seemed like more of a budget friendly place; mostly Spanish speaking families.) The patio and pools were clean but from the outside, the rooms seem very dated. The VistaPier is a totally different experience..adult only, nice pool easy to access loungers on beach and pool deck. Restaurant for guests only and public taco cafè on property. Food and drink service on beach. There is also a breakfast buffet next door st Delfin. Guest rooms were lovely...you have to reserve the ocean view junior suite ...Modern finishes ( tile and granite and very comfortable king bed an pillows with extra blankets, fridge and nespresso machine. No issues with sir von or water. Private elevator for VistaPier guests. Also registration was classy..private lounge and offered a drink at check in ! A bit pricier than average for no meals but the location and quality were great.
Tropicana is a family oriented Mexican hotel right on the beach. It's nestled into the *** area of Puerto Vallarta at the edge of the historic downtown area. The rooms were large but Spartan. We had a great balcony with a view of the ocean. The public areas like the pool, restaurant, gardens, and lobby were gorgeous. The hotel is a great deal too. Nothing seemed overpriced...and there were lots of great restaurants around. I would definitely stay here again!
We where there last week. And we loved it! Incredibly clean, buffet is small (It is a small hotel!) but everything was good and fresh, snack bar as well. Ask for any drink, they can make it. Service at the pool was awesome. It is a family resort, so there is a lot of kids, but how nice all those Mexican people was. Ther wasn't any animation, and by 10:00 pm, it get's really quiet, so if you want to party, you have to go out downtown. Of course, you are going to spend some money, but we also do when we are going out downtown Montreal!. The only thing 1 did not like is the beach, not because it's not nice, but the waves in the sea where incredibly strong, which was not fun at all, at least for me that could not stand up and had a couple of shooters of salted water! I would strongly suggest that they put an outdoor shower at the beach so people can refresh while on the beach, since it is so hard to go into the ocean. Is it a good idea M. Danny, manager? Lol. I will definitely go back. Soon i hope! A huge thanks to Hugo, Danel, Eric, David, Eanu and some others that i forgot the name at the pool. A huge thanks for our maid who did a great job in our room. A huge thanks to Hector, Alfredo at the a la carte restaurant, the young tall handsome waiter which looks a little Vietnamese with is slanted eyes at the buffet, unfortunately forgot is name, and to all the people at the buffet for their incredible and friendly service. Great great place. Thank you so much everyone. Nathalie and Celine, the two Frenchies from el norte!
My husband and I spent 9/13 nights of our honeymoon as Casa Velas. We chose this hotel because of its great reviews, and it was one of only a few adults only ‘highly rated’ hotels. We had a wonderful time, which, in most didn’t disappoint. Pros The location of this hotel is near the marina, you can walk there within 5 to 10 minutes. The area is very safe, it feels very secure and everyone in and around the hotel was very very very friendly. The staff are by far this hotels biggest and best asset. So friendly, accommodating (within what they can do). Ramon and Ulrise worked non stop all day. The rooms are beautiful and are set within ground surrounded by lush trees, flowers and many iguana’s The cocktails were amazing and are exceptional value under the all inclusive, they would make almost anything, even if this wasn’t on the main menu The pool, reception, entrance, gardens and restaurants are immaculate and are constantly being cleaned and tidied. Also some friendly coy carp and turtles (which you can feed) Room for improvement The menu options are limiting, especially if you are staying longer than 4 days. Whilst the food was delicious, we have had some even more amazing food outside of the resort, a more diverse menu would be great for those staying a little longer. Before you travel be sure to check whether there are any events or weddings on during your stay, this was the largest downside by far. When guests arrived for the wedding/event that lasted about five days, our experience was negatively impacted by having to have buffet options for food… the calm, peaceful ambience was also affected. It very much felt like as soon as the wedding parties arrived, other guests were left to experience someone else’s holiday/vacation. Tipping Maybe it is because we are Europeans, and expected tipping isn’t something that we are used to… but considering this is a high end hotel that included tips, it felt strange to then we having to sign for drinks and food and tipping. Not saying that the staff do not deserve to be rewarded for their hard work, this isn’t in question at all, but it did feel a bit off. Whilst we would 100% recommend this hotel to any friends or family staying. We would make the recommendation of a shorter stay as the menu got very repetitive and there’s so many amazing things to see in at around Puerto Vallarta. Value for money 8/10
The room was clean, check in clerk was friendly and the breakfast was not bad at all. Those are the positives. For the not-so-positive: I didn't get the room that I reserved despite booking directly from my IHG account but it was late for my arrival and with it being just one night, I didn't bother to see if my room type was there. There were no face cloths in the bathroom so that was a bit of a surprise. When I showered the next morning the water only got to a lukewarm temperature and that took about five minutes. My biggest concern, hence the title, was on check-out. The check out agent told me that the gentleman from the night before only charged me 180 pesos to my credit card where it should have been 1800. Thankfully, I keep every receipt and told her, ”you are incorrect and I just happen to have the receipt of what was billed to my credit card; let me show you”. Not only was I billed correctly, but it was 1863 pesos. It bothered me that a) if I didn't have this receipt, I would have had to pay again and then dispute the charge later with the credit card company and b) that there was such incompetence that one staff member was calling into question the working ability of the other. The gentlemen that checked me in billed me properly so I am not sure how their internal communication and record keeping got so screwed up. Needless to say, that left a bad taste in my mouth and made this hotel appear to be unprofessional and subject perhaps to scamming people which is not a good impression for a guest to leave with. Further, when the check-out agent was shown the evidence, she didn't even apologize but rather abruptly stated that she wanted to make a copy. I obliged but not after taking a pic in case somehow it was dropped and not returned. Regardless, though close to the airport, I would not stay here again but instead another in the area which I have done before.
The City Express Plus hotel has numerous pros and cons. Pros On the bus route Very quiet Basic continental breakfast Great staff - Fatima is wonderful Awesome ice machine Safe Clean Security - blessing and a curse Exercise room Pool - but cold as ice Air conditioning works well Cons The pillows are beyond horrible! Disasterous…lumpy…like someone took a bat or hammer and destroyed them. The hotel MUST get new pillows. Worst I have EVER used!! No refrigerator to put leftovers in The security is a blessing and a curse. You need your room key to access your hotel floor. If you have friends staying with you on a different floor, you cannot go to their room as your key will not let you access a different floor Pool is not heated - ice cold The sink is horrible. It is slanted inward, so anything that is put on the edge of the sink falls into the sink No string in shower to hang wet clothes/bathing suit Not enough hooks to hang items in bathroom No closet - hanging area with 5 hangers Only one drawer - no option to put clothes away. You HAVE to live out of your suitcase. The hotel seems to be set ip more for a person travelling on business, rather than vacation. But, they have no business center. The big question…would I stay here again. No. It does not fit what we were looking for.
