Had stayed at the Townplace Suites before when visiting family in this area. This time there was no availability there, so I booked the Homewood Suites for the 2 nights we were in town, even though I was aware the reviews for this hotel weren't as good. Of all the Homewood suites I stayed at over the years this one is by far the worst. Starting with check-in, the front desk clerk was very uninformative. No recognizing my Hilton Honors membership, no instructions on amenities or breakfast hours, etc. After settling in I went to the lobby to get some hot water for tea, and found the water was barely luke-warm. Heated it in the microwave in the room. Breakfast next morning was equally disappointing. This location doesn't have the belgian waffle maker that all other HW suites I've stayed at does. The usual omelettes/sausage selections were just as cold as the hot water was (again). We decided to eat breakfast at a nearby diner the next morning. Other things we noted: the drain under the sink was dripping water the first morning of our stay, and I noticed there was tape (not duct tape, brown tape) wrapped around the drain pipe leading to the trap! The shower curtain rod was badly bent, and the anchors at either end were loose in the wall. There were spackle spots next to each anchor, and I realized when I took a shower that the tub is so slippery many people must have grabbed the curtain instead of the safety bar, which explains why the anchors were pulled out of the wall! The front desk personnel was always someone different from Friday night to Sunday when we went to talk to someone, and nothing was ever fixed. This location is badly in need of renovation and upgrading. There needs to be an overhaul of personnel (in terms of continuity and wanting to help), and the food needs to be HOT. The cost for 2 nights was outrageous compared to the condition and service of this hotel, especially since we've experienced the Townplace Suites next door.

We're Bonvoy members because we like Westins. According to the Marriott corporate website, the Marriott brand and the Westin brand are both considered “Premium” Bonvoy properties. As such we expected a similar level of service to what we've received staying in Westin properties. Unfortunately this particular Marriott is a stunning disappointment. We arrived at the property for check-in to find there was no valet parking. They charge a parking fee of $15.00US, which they charged by default, even if you have no vehicle there. Several of our friends who arrived by taxi had been charged. They had to call back and get the charges removed. In addition, there was no staff at all to assist with baggage. Everyone had to haul their own. There was an exciting scavenger hunt to find a luggage cart whenever you needed one. The rooms are clean and present well. I appreciate that there are walk-in showers instead of tubs. I question the choice to use a vinyl composite flooring instead of carpet. The hard surface makes the room noisy, the floor cold, and has a very “Super 8” feel to it. As with the Westins, the beds are quite comfortable. We originally intended a 7 night stay, but due to reservation issues we opted to cut back to 5 nights. I've called the property a dozen times over the course of 14 months to reserve a hospitality suite for the week. The sales manager here is either incompetent, lazy or both. In that 14 month window she was unable to fulfill even this exceedingly basic request. She ignored every single one of Marriott's 5 core values and ruined a trip we've been planning for three years. Our first experience with the on-site dining elicited a mixed reaction. The food was better than expected, and our server was extremely accommodating. We had a table that ended up being 12 people (started with 6, expanded as additional people arrived). Some left and others took their spots. All told we were there about 2-1/2 hours. The hostess was quite cranky, apparently it was inconvenient for her that we were still buying drinks and chatting. She pointed out a few times that we couldn't stay long, as she had another group coming in. That struck us as odd, as she'd told us earlier that they don't take reservations. Even our server was getting annoyed with her, probably afraid she was ruining his tips. We found that breakfast service is short, closing by 9:30, and the staff member in charge of the lobby coffee was quite anxious to shut off the coffee machine Friday morning, even though several of us were gathered in the lobby chatting and...wait for it...drinking coffee. Apparently she was afraid the guests would avail themselves of...guest amenities? There was no coffee service at all on Saturday or Sunday mornings. Hotel tip: Anyone staying at a property Marriott considers “Premium” shouldn't have to order coffee delivered. The convention space is nice. It's smaller than most I've been to, and really too small for the convention we were attending. That
ゲゲストWe came to stay at the hotel for a Wedding for one night. Our stay at the hotel was short, thank goodness. Our check-in process started off difficult because nobody was at the front desk and then once we were checked in, we had to ask for a Wedding gift bag as the gentleman forgot. We got in the room and I noticed the comforter had brown dirty marks all throughout. I called and spoke to someone and they said they will have somebody change it. When the two housekeepers got to the room, they decided to tell me it was humidity and not dirt. I didn’t know humidity can dirty a comforter. And if that's the case, I am assuming there is way too much humidity. After arguing that I wanted it changed, they finally did so. After that, I noticed crumbs all over the floor as this room has never been vacuumed between stays. At this point, I had to get ready for the Wedding and didn’t have time for another argument. For $200 at a Holiday Inn, I am expecting a clean room for me to get ready at and to sleep. I went to the Front Desk while I was leaving and yet again, hard to find somebody there so I waited for a little bit. I then told her my scenario and she said housekeeping left for the day and she would notify her manager. Never heard anything. Early that morning, we were checking out. Once again, I am saying “Excuse Me” because I see somebody in the office to the left of the Front Desk but nobody is acknowledging my presence. The lady finally comes out and tells me “oh, the manager gave you $20 off your stay.” I just wanted to leave because of the lack of customer service. That following Monday, I called the hotel and spoke to Linda, Director of Sales. She heard me out and basically told me I was a liar, because the housekeeping is so good, and there’s always somebody at the front desk. She said the last time somebody called to complain was 2 years ago, the reviews here show otherwise. She said she would get back to me and I have yet to hear from her. This just explains why I don’t believe what she has to say is not the case. I would have left if it wasn’t for the Wedding. I do not recommend staying here.
