I visited the place during the shoulder season and found warm, helpful staff and a comfortable room. Great location near the lake and the village allowing one to walk most places. I didn't make it to the continental breakfast because it starts at 7.
We really liked the Station House Inn for our stay in Tahoe. The pros: great location in South Lake Tahoe off the main drag (we walked everywhere including a block or so down to the beach!), the decor was fun and well done, there were several places to hang out around the property including two fire pits, the toiletries smelled great, there is a heated pool, and the bed was comfy. The cons: no microwave in the room (there is a mini fridge) and the trash cans were not bear proof which led to a visitor turning them over on two separate late nights (he was GIANT).
The hotel looks definitely better on the website than in reality. Saying that, it is a great location, and worked well for us for that reason. There were many positives: The staff were very polite as well, and we were lucky enough with the weather to enjoy the pool and hottub in October. Our kitchen was very well equipped, and the 1bedroom suite was large. The negatives were the appalling quality of the sofa bed which is unusable and made sleep impossible, and the fact that it was not ready for our stay (and once the bed linnen was finally delivered, I had to prepare the sofa bed myself, not an easy task with an injured shoulder awaiting surgery..). The wifi was very weak, and the carpet should be replaced, it was very stained. I think a little attention would make this a great place.
PPassenger37340942066Aggressive! First of all, we were sent to a hotel next door. Fine, it was for one night, no big deal. We requested a late checkout. They said we could have until 12. At 10:50 the next morning, the door is opened by some guy from housekeeping! I was like, what the hell? I told him we had a 12:00 check out, but even so, what the hell? Why is he just coming in our room? He left. At 11:50, another guy starts pounding on the door. “It’s past checkout, it’s time to go!” I cracked the door and informed him we had a 12:00 check out. He yelled, “Well it’s time to go!” The phone rang and it was the front desk telling us checkout was at 11:00. I said: “This is aggressive! I asked for a late checkout, and YOU said we could have until noon!” She said ok and hung up. If they had not given us the late checkout, fine, but to bust in the room prior to regular checkout time, then have some guy yell at us like we were a couple vagrants was uncalled for. Not ever going back there.
QQadir JThe room was clean and spacious. Shower had good water pressure. Lights were adequate in room. Staff was super nice and friendly. Parking was easy and wifi was working great. The location of hotel was very good, close to many spots. Over all we had amazing stay here at Big Pines.
ゲゲストRoom was ok for what we needed. Clean but dated. Good beds and TV. Spacious but with no closet. Towels were small and cheap and hair dryer was not working. Heating and cooling system also dated but worked ok...overall a good value for a ski trip.
