Stayed for 1 night at their Japanese style room with a private outdoor bath as a family of 3. Overall my experience was sub par. It did not match what we paid. We paid about $700 for 1 night, with dinner and breakfast included for 3. Check in: 4/5 there is no early check in available, not even if you offer to pay extra. They check you in right at 3pm on the dot. So try not to come too early like we did. Staff: 5/5 they were very kind and helpful especially the young lady that served our meals. While they don’t speak great English, they tried their very best to communicate everything. Meals: 5/5 It is traditional Japanese food and we expected this even with our toddler. Luckily, they switched out his breakfast with a child meal. If you have kids, try to ask for a child meal ahead of time. You can also order other items on their menu for them as well. The food overall was delicious and filling. We were so full at the end of it! The best part was that it was served in our room. Japanese style room: 1/5 I’m sorry but they really need to upkeep and clean the rooms better. Our a/c was barely working, our room was so hot. The vents are extremely dirty and dusty. There is a weird smell in the room. The bathroom where you shower/ clean seem to have mold all over the ceiling. Proper spray of vinegar can easily clean that. For Japanese standards, it felt grimy and unwelcoming. The overall hotel needs a deep clean and repair in many places. I will not be staying here again.

The owner is totally unprofessional. On the arrival night, we came in late at night due to flight delays and the owner initially refused to let me and my brother in even though we had paid for our room already. After letting us in, he put us in a room without any beds and left us to sleep on the wooden floor; he called it the Japanese style. He never took the time to explain how we should bed the room or what to do. He just left us there to figure it out. The second night, we asked to change rooms and the owner obliged. The second night was better sleeping wise. During our entire stay, the owner, refused to allow us to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner at his restaurant claiming that there is no food; even though we picked his hotel because of the good reviews on the restaurant. Interestingly, Japanese visitors were allowed to eat there, which looked very weird. Due to the location of the place, there is no easy access to other eating places. On the check out, the owner told us that we have to pay for the late check in, which we obliged and paid the entire bill as he gave it to us. As soon as we left, the owner sent an email accusing us of steeling drinks in the minibar; we drank one can of soda from the minibar, with the idea that’s why there were for and that the owner would add that soda to the final bill, which he did not. Not only did he accuse us but he said that he has sent our passport pictures to the police for theft; all for one can of soda. Who does that!!! We called him to try to make payment but because of his limited English, we could not pay for that soda. So we asked a client of ours who is Japanese to speak to him so that we can pay for that soda and he refused again stating he doesn’t want to deal with this anymore. Initially, we did not want to leave a review because we simply didn’t have any good things to say about the place or it’s hospitality but after experiencing this nonsense, we felt obliged to let other people know about our experience there. Therefore, we strongly recommend not using this place as same thing may happen to other foreigners like us.
This hotels location is fantastic located opposite Gora station and the funicular up the mountain. There are some restaurants near it but take note during winter, most close by 5pm or earlier so you have to make reservations at hotel for dinner or you have to buy from Lawson or 711 at the main towns like hakone yumoto or wherever you are before you return. The room we got was the quad room and the kids enjoyed the bunk beds. The single beds were very low on the floor below the bunks so for oldies this hotel may not be very suitable. Bfast came with my room rate and it was rather delicious of salad , free flow bread and this lovely jar of mash potato, braised beef or pork, with a poached egg in a tomato based sauce. Yummy to me. Free flow coffee and tea, 2 or 3 yogurts.. Cleaning is purely clearing the rubbish and replacing toiletries. Most people stay 2 to 3 nights tops so this is sufficient. Overall this is a nice convenient hotel , our 1 and only negative feedback is the stoic attitude of the staff. We got there early at about 11am and there was nobody ar the front desk. I called the number on the poster but nobody picked up. I tried 4 times and nothing. So happen we saw someone along the corridor and called out for help. She came over and confirmed our booking and told us 3pm check in. Now she wasn't rude or anything but very stoic straight faced, no smile which i realise seem to be very common amongst quite a few of the staff here. The only person who smiled at us was the recption lady when we returned at 5pm to check in. Everyone else had this flat unfeeling look. We were also told that we were entitled to 1000yen of whatever snacks or drinks if we didn't use the cleaning service each day and when we asked about it, the lady checking us out gave the impression that she was very unhappy about this. I wont say that the hotel is bad and i will still recommend this place for those wishing to go just witu a caveat of stoic looking staff.
EEstherNLovely place. Some staff can speak English, some can't, but all of them were very friendly and helpful. Location is just 5 minutes walk from the main station and bus stop on the main street. The food was outstanding and stunning in presentation. The hot spring has indoor and outdoor areas. The room was spacious but can be super cold during winter (and there's no hot water system in the bathroom due to old facilities). But overall, best experience, would love to come back :)
ゲゲストThis was amazing place- Clean super friendly staff. The hot springs can be booked for private use. There are three different ones. The beds are the traditional mattress on the tatami. They have japanese robes for use in the hotel and slippers. Very quiet and peaceful. It is at the top of the hill so DEFINITELY make sure you grab a taxi when arriving with baggage. We walked down and took taxi up each time.
VVincentWe recently stayed at this apartment as a family of five and were thoroughly impressed with the spacious apartment. The living room was equipped with a TV, and there was also a separate activity room which was a lovely surprise. The full suite kitchen was well-equipped with an oven, microwave, and induction stove, making it easy for us to prepare meals.
The apartment was also warm and cozy, thanks to the sufficient heaters provided. We stayed in late November, and the heaters kept us comfortable throughout our stay.
Overall, we found the apartment to be clean, comfortable, and perfect for our family's needs.
JJoyceIt’s a beautiful space for a family with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stayover. It wasn’t too far from Hakone Yumoto train station (7 min) except for the need to walk up and down hill with the luggage’s to reach the accommodation. It’s a straight route though. Enough room to sleep a group up to 6 individuals. Has 2 toilets and a kitchenette, microwave and washing machine. Easy to locate. Lodging is strict on check out timing by 10 am.
