Waiau Motor Camp & Cabins

If I thought this campsite couldn’t be better in the summer-we’ll I was dead wrong! The pool! The beautiful, warm, huge pool located across the road is the nicest pool we’ve ever been in. Shade, clean changing rooms, shaded swimming (!!!) and $10 for the day! Holy, what a gem. The grounds are beautiful, playground, caravan cafe, Santa trees, amazingly clean and well stocked kitchen and relax areas. Our caravan site is powered with hedges on both sides for privacy and huge! This is our top place to stay. 25 minutes to Hanmer. I can’t recommend it enough.

It is such a shame that this stunning camp has been sold and is now unavailable for camping as it is now a private property. It was a wonderfully run camp and so many travelers from NZ and around the planet enjoyed the hospitality of Brent and Kara. Thankyou to you both, your kindness and never ending toil will never be forgotten. Thankyou.

This smallish site in a town that was at the epicentre of the Kaikoura earthquake has much to offer. Some of the pitches are separated by hedges, giving privacy for those who prefer it, and the facilities are very clean and well maintained. There is a well equipped children’s play area, riverside walks, plus an interesting walk around the historic heritage of the town. Well worth a trip up Inland Scenic Route72. We’ll stay an extra night to sample the on-site food truck which operates on Fridays and Saturday’s.

A hidden treasure with a unique history, located in a lovely tidy village in the North Canterbury township of Waiau. Immaculately clean, with a range of accommodation options to suit anybody. Host have a passion for history of the camp & the local area with the on site food truck handy for a yummy meal or grazing platter delivered to your camp site or cabin, or walking distance to the pub. Dont drive past on your adventure. Take time to stop in, stay & breathe.

recently stayed here. Lovely peaceful spot. The facilities and grounds are kept absolutely meticulous. Cleanest and most tidy i have seen. Top marks to the owners. Feel proud of your hidden gem. Will defnitely return.
