Beautiful hotel!! Even though hotel was a few streets away from the station BUT free shuttle service is available. Hotel service was so good including free consultation on activity planning in Zermatt. Would definitely go back to this hotel if I’m coming back to Zermatt in future!!
Tannenhof is well located near the Murmeltierbrunnen (groundhog fountain), next to Zermatterhof Hotel. The building is very modern in inside to a high standard. The rooms and beds were superb, with a great shower. The only star I deducted was the sporadic service at breakfast and poor communication. The young lady briefed with restocking breakfast and clearing tables was a little reluctant, but could be persuaded. I had sent a message to the hotel months in advance and asked for one of our rooms to be made up with twin beds. I even had a friendly confirmation back. On arrival however, no notice could be found and both rooms had double beds. Not a major thing, but a hotel in this category and price range should be able to deal with this. Also on our arrival, the restaurant was closed for the day (it was open again the next day). Again, no notice was given to us. Out of the many messages I was sent by Tannenhof to check in online beforehand, none indicated a closed dinner option at the hotel. Again, not a major thing, but something that wasn’t aligned with rest of the luxurious ambience at Tannenhof.
Michelle and Thor are suoerhosts. One steep block up from the main street (with rope hnd rails for us older folks!) made the views from the balcony overlooking Zermatt and the mountains great. Michelle's design gene really came out in both the interior and the winding path through flowers uo to the hotel. Thor was waiting for us when we got off the Glacier Express with a mini-minivan which again these old folks appreciated. Also drove us back and explained Swiss Rail supersaver tickets to us (you sved me 40CHF Thor). His recommendations for the Brown Cow Pub (right on main street at bottom of the steep block) and Avena Restaurant were excellent. In summary, my wife said it felt like coming home after each excursion we took.
AanniemindyNice, comfortable hotel, low-key, not super fancy, but my room had a balcony with an awesome view of the Matterhorn. I loved relaxing on that balcony! Nice breakfast buffet, good location, quiet enough. Definitely recommended and a good value in an expensive town. For the same price, I could have stayed at a fancier hotel without the view. I'm glad I chose Hotel Parnass.
ゲゲストwonderful spa that includes dry and wet sauna and hot tub and full bathing facilities. The included breakfast is robust and built from locally sourced products and produce. The breakfast also includes made to order eggs. Ruth the owner, Regina, and Simon, the staff we interacted with, were always positive and very helpful. They answered to all our needs, no matter how mundane. Ruth is quite the character and many a night we would stop at the bar for a drink and a hilarious story from her. As a staff, they are so dedicated, they provided full service over their national Independence Day celebration. The lodge also promotes a green existence. They ask for you to turn off all lights and appliances when not in the room, reuse linens and towels, and recycle. The location is ideal, as it’s just a couple of blocks from the city main square. It also has great views of the Matterhorn.
Mmiskyroo9My husband and I spent 3 nights here during a two week hiking trip across Switzerland. We really really liked this hotel! The room was well laid out, rather spacious, and very clean. We had an amazing view of the Matterhorn from the balcony! The breakfast room is just stunning and the morning spread was lovely. The location is very convenient to town. They have an outdoor pool with a stunning view of the Matterhorn and spa facilities that include a snow room! In addition to the room and location, what impressed us the most was the front desk staff. My husband had cut the palm of his hand in the previous town where there was no doctor (a nurse cleaned and bandaged it, but could not stitch it). After arriving in Zermatt and hiking the 5 Lakes trail, my husband discovered that the butterfly bandages had come off and the wound was red and swollen. We asked the front desk staff for a doctor recommendation - - a lovely woman referred us to the emergency doctor and called ahead on our behalf. We were able to see the doctor within 15 minutes and he took good care of my husband. When we returned to the hotel and throughout our 3 day stay, numerous staff members checked in with my husband and asked how his wound was healing. They genuinely cared. It really showed us the kindness of this staff, which is in itself indicative of the culture of this property. We couldn't have been happier with our experience at this property!
We went back to the derby hotel restaurant to find out if Giovanni Zaino and his team (very attentive Fernando) were still running the good restaurant in an agile and friendly manner and... our experience was even better than the one we had here in 2021! We will definitely be dining here again next time. By the way, we're going to stay at the hotel again, which this time was full.
ゲゲストGreat hotel Don’t expect luxury but given the price point you know this already The rooms are small but functional with everything you need for your stay including a great coffee machine that’s topped up daily. Breakfast is well beyond what I was expecting and had cereals, meats, yoghurts, breads, cheeses, sausages, eggs and probably much more! Plus more really good coffee! Located 5 minutes walk to Bayard ski rental, and an additional 1 minute to the Gornergrat railway taking you up onto the slopes From the hotel, you can be on the train in under 10 minutes. Staff are really helpful and allowed us to keep our bags there on the last day even though we’d checked out. There’s a quick lift to all floors. I would highly recommend the hotel if your plans are to ski all day, go out on an evening and use it as a place to sleep. Would certainly return
