Beijing People's Art Theatre, or Beijing People's Art Theatre for short, was founded on June 12, 1952. It is a national theatre and a Chinese drama group. Drama master Cao Yu was the first president. In the past 50 years, the Beijing People's Art Theatre has gone through a glorious journey just like the capital Beijing. Lao She's famous opera "Longxugou" is the foundation work of the Beijing People's Art Theatre. Soon after, Cao Yu's "Thunderstorm", "Sunrise", "Peking Man" and Guo Moruo's famous opera "Tiger Fu" were performed successively. In the 14 years before the Cultural Revolution, the Beijing People's Art Theatre created a total of 121 plays. It is the palace of Chinese people's culture and art.
