In 1924, Huang Zhimin, an overseas Chinese from Philippines, bought it as a residence. It features the two roofs "Golden Melon" which are unique among more than 1,000 villas in Gulangyu. Jingua Tower is a villa building built with traditional Chinese decoration technology. All beams, columns, eaves, lintels, boards and corners are decorated with flowers, birds, plant reliefs, with local flavor and Rococo flavor. The windows are European-style, all equipped with blinds; the interior rooms and halls are integrated with Chinese and Western settings, including traditional Chinese boxes and public halls, as well as European-style fireplaces and corridors. This method of decorating foreign buildings with traditional Chinese crafts reflects the local complex of overseas Chinese, which is also the unique style of Jingua Tower.
