Chateau de Fere Hotel and Spa

This is supposed to be a five star hotel. Upon arrival with 36 McLaren super cars which was pre booked and having been told the whole chateau had been exclusively booked out to us, we were greeted with most unhelpful and miserable staff I have ever encountered. The service was appalling along with the food and also they did not have anywhere near enough drink to serve us all. This was the last stay on our magnificent driving holiday and was supposed to be the best hotel to end the tour on. Not so! We stayed in 5 other hotels during our 8 day holiday and this was by far the worst. Will not stay there again nor will I recommend it.

Charming hotel but needs some investments to recover the minimum level to have the feeling of staying in a 5* hotel.

It was a good discover. The place is stunning, the pool really cool and the restaurant superlative. To be improved the communication (complicated to have feedbacks on my emails before going) and overall quite disappointed by the spa that didn’t have any locker room and was really under the expectations.

I booked this for my husband’s birthday after we’d spent a few days in the. Champagne region. We were upgraded to a premium room overlooking the pool which was prefect. The room was bright and airy with separate bathroom and loo, with a jacuzzi bath, shower and double sinks. The staff were so helpful and friendly, always willing to help, speak English or endure my broken French with an encouraging smile. We had dinner on the second night, the dining room was busy but the service was impeccable, the staff were so attentive you could hardly tell they were busy. The meal was delicious, we had the steak for two with every vegetable imaginable, all cooked perfectly. Great wine and a new cocktail to add to my list of favourites. We used the pool, which could have been a little warmer so I swam faster, were given complimentary use of the spa and even squeezed in a game of tennis on the courts. The setting was beautiful, to see the old chateau ruins at sunset was stunning. Perfect ending to a perfect holiday. Would love to go back.

We came from the USA to see some of the Olympics in Paris - but wanted to spend a few days in the country to "get away from the crowds". We came to the right place. Amazing facility, location and staff. Everything we expected and more. As a bonus, we learned about WW1 - which was significant in the area. Would highly recommend.

So disappointed. We have been here many times over the past 10/15 years and always found everything to be perfect, from the rooms, to the food, to the service Sadly, not the same this time. Our room had a fan with no instructions so we were unable to operate it. We have a tap that doesn’t work and a basin with no way to let it drain. During dinner outside there were no lights so everyone had to eat in the dark and no explanation or apology from the staff. I don’t criticise the staff…they were all working hard and very pleasant but all in the dark. So SO disappointing. We are here for 1 more night….will things improve??? I hope so, but fear not.
