We stayed here for a few nights last week. The hotel is centrally located and this is why we picked it. The rooms are clean and the hotel is nicely furnished. The pool area is nice with amazing views. I am giving only two stars because of the condescending attitude of some of the front desk staff. One was downright rude upon checkout. Some training on kindness would be helpful for future guests.
Standards have dropped since my last visit but pricing is still good compared to other hotels on area. Music on bar is very much like trance which is great if your 20 but considering average age is 50 + not really appropriate which is probably why the bar is no to busy. Generally ok but shame things have gone a boi array
On the whole, it’s a really great hotel at the price. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff were really helpful in organising things for my partners birthday and really went the extra step to make our trip special. Can’t fault the service.
My only gripes are that you can’t set the you can’t set up the aircon yourself in the rooms and the gym is limited.
Very good hotel in an excellent location for an easy if hilly walk into town. The room was big and we were on a corner so had 3 balconies. The only thing that let it down was the furnishings could do with being cleaned ie sofa bed was grubby. However we found the beds very comfy and clean. The food was very good and staff could not have been more helpful. We would definitely go back in a few years.
Excellent hotel. Clean in all public areas. Staff friendly and helpful. Housekeeping came every day. The hotel has indoor and outdoor pools, gym, and opportunity for spa treatments. The hotel is up a steep but short incline and about a 20 minute walk into Funchal. It's about a 30 minute walk to the Lido area. We had the buffet breakfast every day. There was plenty of food, hot, cold, pastries etc. You can also request your own omelette with a selection of fillings. Decaf coffee is in sachets. If you want extra tea/coffee in your room, you will be charged €5 each time you want to 'top up', so we bought a jar of decaf from the local supermarket! We paid €24 tourist tax for 10 nights, which we paid on arrival. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
The hotel is in a great location, the apartment/room was perfect with a great view. Reception staff were always helpful and friendly. Cannot recommend the lady at breakfast each morning highly enough - she was the most friendly welcoming person, always a pleasure to say hello in the morning. The breakfast is vast lots of fresh fruit, meat and cheeses, cereals, pastries and hot food and also plenty additionally cooked to order if you require. The pool area is lovely and clean, located on the roof with a very relaxed vibe. About a 25 minute walk into the old town of Funchal, lots of great places to eat nearby the hotel. Only downside, it is next to a road. It is not excessively busy but you can expect some traffic noise but this did not disturb us in any way.
Room is spacious with balcony. Outside the hotel, there are public buses going to Funchal center. It's also located in the shopping area with restaurants and supermarkets. You can sit at rooftop to have a sea view. Breakfast buffet is good. Airport is less than half hour on taxi.
TTravel50665639157We picked the hotel for its proximity to the sea front, and to Funchal. This meant it was less than €10 for a Taxi to Old town etc, and also you could walk the Sea front Lido path (with its many bars/restaurants) going west. Our room looked out over carpark and mainly on the Atlantic Ocean, which was wonderful. Hotel bars, pool area, and Happy hour (50%) were all good
Lovely spacious (superior double as it was described) room with air-conditioning, very comfortable good-sized bed, fridge and kettle. Housekeeping was excellent. We were happy with view over the rooftops and surrounding hills of Funchal. Excellent breakfasts with good buffet of cereals, toast, eggs mushrooms etc. Coffee and tea were served in pots if requested and good coffee also available from machines if you preferred to make your own. Excellent omelettes were also prepared if requested. Good location near centre of Funchal within easy reach of our favourite restaurants in the old town. We did not make use of the small pool area on the roof nor try the dinners available at the hotel nor use the TV in our room. Staff were pleasant and service in the breakfast restaurant (in so far as required) was excellent. Would be happy to visit again.
Beautiful stay again and the staff is always making sure everything is amazing! LENINE always makes you laugh and tells you about Madeira with passion. MAURILIO - always smiling and making sure that you have everything you need. ARAUJO will serve you at the bar. Always smiling, attentive and nice. FATIMA will take care of you at the pool bar. VANDA is a very friendly girl greeting you at the restaurant. Everyone is making sure you feel as part of the Meliá family under DINARTE's supervision who is running the team smoothly with a constant smile on his face. Thank you Meliá for having us again.
We arrived late evening and very tired but received a very warm welcome and equally welcome glass of wine. The gentleman on reception even brought our cases to our room, which was very large and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the pool and the sea. Everything was spotlessly clean. We stayed 10 nights and bedding and towels were constantly changed by a very smiley and hard working member of housekeeping. All staff were friendly and helpful. We only had bed and breakfast but what a treat eating outside overlooking the sea. Food choice at breakfast was excellent and constantly being replenished. Waiters friendly and efficient. Pool area was lovely with nice views and surrounded by palm trees. Saving of sun beds not allowed so all very relaxed. Very clean and tidy. Music some evenings but nothing to disturb other guests. For a largish hotel it still had a very personal feeling. Delilia the customer relations manager was extremely helpful, answering queries and booking restaurants. There were plenty of restaurants within walking distance of tge hotel. Noticed guests with mobility scooters and walking sticks so good to know all people are catered for. Bus stop just outside hotel so apart from walking into Funchal there is good transport available. We loved our stay here.
MMuhammadOne of the main reason why I booked this 4 star hotel was that it said it had a large space gym area as mentioned before booking, so I assumed it being a 4 start Hotel it will have decent weights and machines. However, when I arrived, the gym didn’t have a pull-up bar or a cable machine, the dumbbell weights were very basic that went up to only 10 kg. That is absolutely disappointing considering this was a 4 start Hotel. To be honest the multiuse cable machine is pretty much all you need as it has everything to be exercise all your body parts! I love my pullups hence I had to find a way to do them so I found a metal gate just outside the gym in the tennis court believe it or not I used the gate frame to do my pullups (see picture). Another downfall is that it didn’t have a water fountain in the gym area. You had to go up to the reception and buy bottle of water for €2. Good luck to those who suffer from quick dehydration.
I expected the room to have a kettle which you wouldn’t think twice whether it will have it or not. But guess what? You have to pay extra to have a kettle in your room during your stay between €5 to €7. That’s just jokes, I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry!
Other than that, the staff were very friendly and the location is close to the sea, and approximately 11 minutes drive to the main city area in Funchal.
I’d say the breakfast is good, but the same time pretty standard what you would get in a 3 star hotel. I was expecting better variety. The breakfast is always the same every day. Hardly never changes. However, the dinner menu has a rotation.
Overall, I would give this place 3.5 out of 5!
I hope they can accommodate the above the next time I visit.
ゲゲストHotel muy limpio, buffet perfecto, nada más llegar nos sirvieron una copa de vino súper amables y si fumas también hay una terraza monísima para sentarte y tomar el aire. Muy recomendado , nos encanto!!
FFahad A AlghamdiEverything was fantastic, hotel location, services and design of the hotel. I enjoyed the 2 nights there. Unfortunately the welcoming was not good for me as I waited for 3 hours and 20 minutes. Yes I came early before the check in time which is 2 Pm and I came at 11:50 and the front deck staff ( Eduard ) confirm to me that my room will be ready at 2 pm but till 3:10 pm only I got to my room after I esclate my issue to the front deck manager ( Peter ), the problem was not about the time I lost, but the attitude of front deck staff as he is looking to my face multiple times and he didn’t come to say sorry that your room not yet ready just to apologizing…
