Luckily my husband and I have been together for 27 years, so sharing a washingcloth was not life-ending. We'll definitely be staying again. I'm not sure if we'll stick with The Cherokee rooms again.
My husband and I had a great stay at this Fairfield. It is a pretty good Fairfield if you are familiar with the brand. We were staying as part of a longer road trip and visit to Great Smoky Mountains NP. The hotel was super clean, and the workers were friendly. It is very close to the park, and it is close to the ****** with entertainment and restaurants.
Not a bad place, but not a great one either. Room and bathroom though not spotless were adequately clean. I would give the overall room cleanliness a 80 out of 100. Everything worked as it supposed to. Great location. Nice pool, nice hotel room patio, The out door Hot tub could be a little warmer but was usable. Check in and Check out were easy. Staff was friendly. Facility felt safe. The biggest issue we had was that the advertising for this facility shows a hot breakfast bar and a place to sit and eat it. This was not provided. We were provided a coffee machine, a OJ dispenser, and a basket of muffins, and no where to sit and eat this measly (breakfast). They have a nice sun room in the back that would be a great place to eat a real breakfast but the entire area was closed off. So back to the room we headed with our coffee and muffins. We went out to find a real breakfast. THey should not advertise a breakfast that was not provided.
having to relocate to cherokee at the spur of the moment for employment Great Smokies Inn made my relocating painless making me feel right at home for a month till i found housing. The rooms were spacius comfortable and clean and the staff was friendly, pleasant, helpful and welcomed me to their community with out hesitation. Especially Jess, she was always willing to go the extra mile, although I am unsure of her current position. Her customer service, pride and dedication in her work makes he upper management material. And if she is not in management then she needs to be. To say the least she is one of the few hospitalitarians we still have left today in our industry.
We usually stay at motels with inside entry to the rooms so this was a different experience for us. The noise level outside was very detracting but the room was very good otherwise. The management was very attentive and the breakfast area and breakfast, though limited, was good and we enjoyed it. We did have problems with our keys twice but the manager fixed it right away with just a walk to the office involved. We stayed at the motel for 4 nights and used it as a hub for our daily activities in the mountains. We really enjoyed our stay after getting use to the noisy parking lot.
Disappointing breakfast with just apples, bagels, cereal and yogurt. No bread, no eggs, no sausage and no microwave. Staff isn’t friendly and lacks any customer service skills. The lobby is beautiful and the rooms spacious, clean and well maintained. DESPITE reserving a handicap room, I found the “handicap room” wasn’t wheelchair friendly. I give the hotel a C- as “handicap friendly”. The bathroom so small I couldn’t close the door with my wheelchair in the bathroom (with the footrests removed) and I couldn’t get to the shower because the door was in the way, I had to walk into the bathroom (a struggle for me) then close the door to get into the shower. The shower is dangerous without any hand/ safety rails. I did get a walk in shower and they did provide a shower chair but the only shelf in the shower was on the back of the shower and not reachable when using the shower chair. This is a DANGEROUS shower which requires using the glass shower door handle to move in/out or stand while bathing. It’s a million dollar accident waiting to happen. Two more issues with simple solutions: the toilet is an old “squat” toilet (probably 14 in bowl height) making use and transferring to and from the toilet difficult (no grab bar). New toilets are 17 1/2 and 18 inches making the wheelchair chair to toilet easier and safer. Finally, the carpet in the room is beautiful and thick BUT it was hard to move around in the room with the wheelchair. Many hotels now have “hard surface” floors making it much easier to move around and safer for those using walkers or canes. PLUS hotel carpets are known to hold bacteria with the hard surface easier to clean. Pitiful internet which goes every hour or so and the TV didn’t work well despite the desk clerk trying to fix it.. about every 15 minutes the tv would go offline requiring a wait and restart (see pictures).
The front desk and housekeeping were the worst I have ever experienced in all of my travels. We had called the hotel 2 times the day of our arrival to let them know that we would be a late night arrival and not to let our room go. When we arrived the front desk clerk that checked us in, was rude and not friendly at all. Evidently, he was to give us a placard to place on the door to let housekeeping know we wanted our room cleaned. (First for us to have this type of request of a guest.) He did not. After returning from our outing the second night it was a surprise not to have our room cleaned and fresh towels. Okay, maybe we were overlooked the first time. I went to front desk. Same person who us in was there. He assured me that he would tell housekeeping and gave me fresh towels. He had that opportunity to give us the placard for housekeeping. He did not. Then again, third night returning from an outing, room was not cleaned again. Not happy. Went to the front desk again, taking all the dirty towels for exchange of clean. After explaining again that our room had not been serviced again, OR since arriving, I am told that the other clerk should have given us a placard for cleaning room. I asked for a discount on our room for the poor service. I was told she would put a note in and the manager would have to take care of that. Next morning at check out the manager says she cannot give a discount because we prepaid. You would think that if we prepaid we would have gotten a better room and better treatment. Nope not the case. I chose this hotel because of the cleanliness rating. In addition their breakfast was subpar as well. Same thing served everyday; flat round precooked eggs, sausage, waffles.
ゲゲストBest place to stay in Cherokee is Rodeway Inn and Suites. Great location near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Rooms have great views of the Oconaluftee River. Great place to relax after a day of hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains.
