Spent a few nights here in July with a birding group while birding the Sarapiqui region (particularly La Selva Biological Station nearby). Sort of typical mid-size touristy-type hotel – a little crowded and noisy and lots of families/kids. The rooms were quite spacious and clean (with AC, which was much appreciated!) and the hotel grounds well maintained. It appears to be the kind of place that caters to larger groups – there were several large groups of teenage kids with chaperones there during our stay (possibly graduating class of seniors from the US?). Not a problem, but not the quiet, quaint lodging experience of a smaller rustic lodge. The dining experience was as expected for catering to larger groups, with a large dining hall and buffet lines (although they also had menu ordering). The food was adequate (good enough, just not the reason for staying here). Following youngsters through the buffet on our first night while they stuck their fingers in the sauces to see if they wanted any sent me back to menu ordering for the remainder of the stay. There is nothing wrong with this location, particularly if you’re bringing your family or with a large group (in which case I think it would work nicely). But for one who likes smaller, quieter, more rustic settings, the best thing to say about this hotel is it's convenience to great birding and other nature-related locations in the area (and air conditioning!).
