A year or two ago this guesthouse might have looked pristine as presented online, in reality, requires urgent maintenance to both the outdoor and indoor facilities. The backup generator required on one of the hottest days this summer was not in working condition when the area transformer blew up. There was no supply of candles except for one well used tealight candle. On arrival from dinner in the town, guests were expected to climb the steep stairs to their rooms in pitch darkness, a massive safety issue. The Ocean room door handle was reported on entry as “not secure and falling to the ground” during our 16 day stay, this continued until the end of our stay. The bathroom shutter was broken and had to be temporarily positioned daily to provide privacy in the bathroom. The outdoor pool facility on three occasions including New Years Day was not accessible to paying residents, but frequented by a number of non-staying residents who were loud, inconsiderate and created chaos in the resident parking area due to the increased volume of visitor cars who literally took over an area assigned for guests. This venue at all times was a smoking venue not as advertised “non-smoking throughout”?? Stars awarded for the exceptional hardworking staff including Khaya for looking after our health providing outstanding healthy breakfasts and awesome coffees, the cleanliness of the rooms and the pride and passion the staff at Sandals Guesthouse display to their customers. Their passion shines through. Management (Hazel and Ashley) did their best under trying conditions.

We had an upstairs room which overlooked the front garden room was huge and amazing very warm welcome from the owners spent the day on the beautiful beach had lunch overlooking the sea at Bellezar the sushi was first class we were advised by the owners Butchers Boys for dinner and were not disappointed! Breakfast was first class would definitely stay again and great location

Had an amazing stay at Sandals Guest House, amazing service and the friendliest staff always available to assist. The owners/managers were always available when I needs assistance. The room was clean and comfortable and accommodated my needs. The location is excellent! Thank you for the great stay, I will definitely be back. Keeran.

Comfortable, welcoming and secure guest house in a very convenient location near the centre of Umhlanga Rocks. Repeat visit for me so clearly very satisfied with service amenities and ambience. No change and hopefully I will be back. Superior to B&B alternatives in Umhlanga Rocks that I have stayed in. Small enough to be private and benefit from personalised service but with great respect for individual privacy so you do feel like a genuine guest rather than a person staying in the hosts' spare room. Lovely staff and managers Ashley and Hazel are fantastic hosts

I would have preferred being notified of the water crisis in Umhlanga prior to arriving at the Guest House as there was no running water at the establishment! No alternative arrangements were made, I ended up having to leave to stay at a hotel at Gateway Shopping Centre which had running water.
