I travel a lot around the Big Island. One of the things I missed from my home state is a good sized breakfast. Coqui's Hideway does not disappoint! The food portions came up during a conversation and a resident pointed me to this restaurant. The inside is clean and inviting. There are large glass windows to view the gardens and poi ponds on the backside of the property. There's a door that leads to a walkway outside gain a better view of the large garden. There are many tall trees that provide shade for the gardens below. I ordered a full sized egg breakfast. Wow, I was surprised at the portion sizes on the plate. I took my time and enjoyed this meal. Many locals visit this restaurant and I can see why. Breakfast was 5 out of 5 stars

After all day of driving around Hilo and visiting several attractions and the ocean, all we wanted was a quick place to eat a lunch before driving back to the Kona side of the island. We came upon this place and decided to get a light lunch. The diner offered a variety of typical lunch menu at very reasonable prices and the food was good and just perfect for a light lunch.

Family diner atmosphere. Could use some renovation. Very wide menu choices. We had sandwiches and they were good. Our waitress, Star, was very friendly and was hustling hard but trying to wait on the whole place and cashier as well was asking a bit too much of her. Really need two people during the lunch hour. It was OK but not remarkable.
