What a disappointment. The worst value I have encountered in Madrid. Pros: This place is adjacent to the Puerta del Sol, which makes it convenient to the metro and other central places in Madrid. The room was very clean with AC and the balcony does look down on the street. It's surprisingly quiet considering the noisy street below. Communication was good after booking the room. Cons: The entry is dark (and scary, frankly), with garbage on the floor and a rickety elevator. Desk staff is not friendly or welcoming but will answer your questions if they can. We were promised help getting a taxi and then they didn't. Staff is noisy in the morning when they have a sign asking guests to respect others who may be trying to sleep. This is a sterile room with a bed, a bathroom, a tv, 2 tv trays, and 2 plastic chairs. I would advise you to keep looking if you are searching for charming, friendly and reasonably quiet. For 220 euros a night, you can do better.

Primero decir, a modo de ayuda, que el hostal Alaska esta cerrado. Realice una reserva para pasar unos días en Madrid y mi sorpresa cuando llegué a la dirección que ponía en mi reserva, nadie me contestaba al timbre. Lo intente varias veces, pero sin respuesta. Después de escribir un correo, llamar varias veces al teléfono de contacto de la web e investigar, descubrí un comentario de otra persona que le paso lo mismo y menos mal que lo vi. Ponía que tuvo que llamar a otro hostal de la misma finca para descubrir lo que era de esperar, que se habían trasladado a otra calle (calle de la cruz 33, a menos de un minuto). Al parecer la comunicación no es su fuerte, porque no poner ni un cartel o retirar el anuncio de las webs…..ademas cuando por fin llegue al hostal, bastante escuetos en palabras. En cuanto a la habitación, yo tenia una habitación con cama doble, aire acondicionado y baño privado. Para el precio que pagué, la habitación esta bien, la cama es cómoda y esta bien equipada (ademas esta muy centrico)
