From the moment you enter The Cottage Hotel you are made to feel like a special guest. All the staff looked after us so well and always with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Loved the old part of the hotel with its history and interesting features. The new part has been done to such a high standard with quality interior design and light and airy rooms. We were lucky enough to stay in a premier sea view room and it really was stunning and what a view to wake up to. We left feeling so relaxed and can’t wait to visit again soon. Well done Neil and team.

This hotel deserves 5 stars. The customer service, location, food is second to none. The views simply stunning. Nothing is too much trouble for any member of the team. So relaxing. Our room was premier room and well worth the extra. Other rooms classic but with same stunning sea views. The character and history of this beautiful place shines out inside. The food just wonderful!

We booked for the New Years Eve gala evening. We weren't staying at the hotel but were delighted they had a table for us. Firstly, all the staff were wonderful. Good old fashion proper, attentive , friendly service. Neil, the manager, did the rounds and set the tone. The food - all six courses! - was delicious and we had an excellent wine and a nice glass of port. They really made an effort to make the evening festive and fun. The hotel itself is lovely with beautiful views and a great atmosphere. Plus they take dogs! We felt really welcome and can't recommend our experience highly enough. I'm sure a stay here would be a real treat.

Can't say enough superlatives about this quirky and slightly old fashioned hotel in this glorious part of South Devon. The views from bedrooms are stunning. Total comfort in the bedroom. Food and meals were out of this world. Cannot be faulted. Service was so good and thanks to William, Sarah!, Neil and all the staff for making this so memorable

Back to our favourite bolthole in beautiful Hope Cove. Our 9th time, I am told at reception. Always a pleasure to be greeted by William, Sarah, Neil and the whole crew. Taking advantage of the excellent value occasional deal, available only to lucky Devon residents. Half board to include a five course dinner. Complemented, but sadly not complimentary haha, by an impressive range of wines. A doggy friendly hotel. Well, we are in Devon afterall. On this occasion we upgraded to one of the fine premier rooms in the long awaited new extension. An impressive and very comfortable room with a fancy en suite, superb shower and bath. Spacious ocean front balcony. Room for a pony.

Had a fantastic weekend away here. The hotel itself is a little dated and could do with a refresh in places, but overall it's fine. The average age of the clientele is quite old and we felt out of place at times. We are 50. What makes this place stand out for me are the staff. I have been to much more expensive 4 star hotels and had poorer service. The waiting, bar and restaurant staff are amazing. Nothing too much trouble, felt like royalty. They have a sense of humour too, sadly lacking in most places today. Hats off to the staff, you make this place. Without them this review would be very different.
