I have recently returned from a stay at the Grand Hotel La Pace for 5 nights with my mum at the beginning of April on an all-inclusive package with Jet 2. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend for those wanting to travel to Sorrento. Firstly, we were upgraded to a double room with a balcony which had spectacular views over Sorrento and the bay of Naples. The initial impression of the room was pleasant as it had a traditional and palatial feeling thanks to the patterned, yellow tiles and the fabric adorned walls. Upon closer inspection there were some small problems like chipped tiles and a few areas that could be in need of redecorating but nothing that would impact your stay. Generally, the room was cleaned well apart from the tea cups which were often left when they had been used. The food is probably the weakest offering from the hotel as on many nights my mum struggled to eat from the buffet however I thought it was fine. We especially enjoyed breakfast as I thought there was a large selection from pastries to hot options. One issue is that often the food wasn’t labelled or mislabelled so at times it was hard to know what some of the buffet items were. Throughout the hotel the staff were helpful and friendly especially in the downstairs bar where we enjoyed their large cocktail menu especially their limoncello spritz. Another bonus is that during dinner they would often give you a bottle of wine with your meal. Also, on the first night due to our flight arriving late and the restaurant being already closed they put on a small meal consisting of meats, cheeses, salads and traditional Italian easter cake. If you are after large amounts of entertainment and activities than this is not the hotel for you as it offers a more relaxed experience. However, on most nights there was a singer in the bar and there is a swimming pool surrounded by sunbeds. As previously mentioned, the main draw of this hotel is its classic elegant style with a Murano glass chandelier and marble floors decorating the lobby and you can discover numerous antiques around the hotel. This hotel really is transportive in taking you back in time to a period of more elegance and grandeur. Another highlight is this hotels location as it is a short walk from the town of Sant’Agnello and its train station which helped us with our day trip to Pompeii. Also, the hotel puts on regular complementary shuttlebuses to Sorrento at various times in the day making Sorrento easy to explore. Overall, I would recommend this hotel as it is perfect for exploring the local area due to its location and their easily accessible shuttlebuses and is also perfect for someone who loves to relax surrounded by Italian opulence.
