Horse back riding, guided hikes on our secluded and pristine reserve (where you will not see other humans besides yourselves and the guides ) and fishing are available at fare rates depending on number of participants. Amazing exclusive Pacuare River white water rafting trips can be arranged with experienced guides and are highly recommended. The Pacuare River is among the 10 most cleanest rivers in the world. The days are warm, but the nights are chilly. Open air bathroom ( cold spring water) ALL PHOTOS ON OUR LISTING ARE TAKEN WITHIN OUR PRIVATE RESERVE!Guest accessYou get the entire bungalow, and are free to walk anywhere on the reserve and swim in our pristine emerald pond. We want you to feel comfortable, private and safe. Guided hiking tours are recommended when going into rain forest or waterfall starting at $25 to $50 per person depending on where you want to go and how long of a hike. We can give a reduced guided hike group rate for over 5 people. On the long beautiful hike to our own private waterfall , we provide a pack lunch. Gracious horse back riding starts at $45 per person depending on how long and where you want to ride. Picnic lunches can be arranged as well as fishing in our Tilapia pond. Rubber at least mid calf boots are recommended or waterproof hiking boots. My husband, son, staff and I are close by for anything you might need and to customize your stay. All meals, guided hikes and tours are to be paid in cash.Other things to note1. We are at the end of a 6.5 km 4 wheel drive only road. It is best to come early in the day. We can arrange a 4 wheel drive taxi to pick you up if you do not have a 4 wheel drive vehicle in the small town of La Suiza at the bottom of our hill for $25.2. There are three supermarkets in La Suiza and three butchers. Make sure you do your food, beverage and ice shopping before coming up the hill. You don't wantto be having to make unnecessary trips down the hill taking you away from the serenity of the reserve. 3. The bungalow is set for cooking but with a few days notice, delicious all organic meals can be prepared and served at an additional cost of $20 /$25 per person betwee 1- 6 pm. Our own organic roasted chicken, our own butter baked whole organic tilapia, certifies grass fed grilled Costa Rican beef, creamy tilapia coconut chowder, shrimp and sausage paella, vegetarian or beef lasagna a la vodka or my handmade chicken or pork tamales are your choices. Please choose just one of the entrees for your group per meal ! Excellent South American wines, beer, cocktails are available for purchase at reasonable prices. You will love the pure air and year-round, spring-like temperature, with mornings and evenings in the upper 60's and 80's in the afternoon. Get ready for a light blanket at night with no need for air conditioning. Birds that surround the Station provide spectacular morning and afternoon concerts. The view from the main deck is breath-taking -- across a valley and Cachi Lake to a verdant mountain ridge 20 miles away. At night, the valley twinkles with lights from small settlements.The cabin has three levels, each level with a private bath. The total sleeping capacity of the station is 10 people; 4 on the lower level, 4 on the upper level and 2 on the central level. The dining and living areas are located in the central level as well as the main balcony and the kitchen which is part of the main balcony; allowing you to cook looking at the Cachi lake. The upper level has a small balcony (capacity of 4) for you to relax in the middle of nature. Superior quality water comes from the municipal aqueduct. Estacion Descansos has its own wastewater treatment plant as well as a complete rain water collection and distribution system for watering plants and minor cleaning. Laundry facility is also available but if you do not want to do it yourself, Irma, a local, will do it for you. Irma could also take care of the cleaning and cooking. Irma charges a hourly rate of $1500 colons which is equivalent to US$2.75. We grow organic produce including tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, green beans, celery, coriander, and more that depending on the season, you can pick, cook and enjoy. Ricardo, a local, takes care of the daily duties to maintain the station. Ricardo will welcome you and provide guidance about the Estacion as well as things you may need like towels, plates, silverware and so on. Adjacent to the house is a beautiful kiosk for meditation, yoga, tai chi or simply a good book and a nap in a hammock. The house has Wifi as well as a Bluetooth speaker so you can play music from your computer or mobile device.At the Estación, you can enjoy teas and aromatic herbs to improve digestion, relieve stress and stimulate sleep. You can harvest most of them right by the porch. Depending on the season, you can blend fresh fruit juice from oranges, bananas, lemon, lulo and mandarins that grow on the property. Aloe Vera (sabila) is planted by the kiosk. Ricardo, the property manager, can show you how to harvest the sabila to get the gel out to enhance your fruit juice. He can also advise you on the properties of various herbs for tea.Descansos works closely with people from the local community of La Flor to provide additional services to visitors, such as cleaning, cooking, laundry, haircuts, transportation and so onDescansos abuts Finca La Flor, our great neighbor. For a reasonable fee or donation, you can enjoy various activities at this organic farm and educational community, including Spanish classes, horseback rides, cooking, walking in the forest, meditating in a natural bamboo circle, feeding the horses, cows, goats, ducks and chickens. With a reservation, you can also take communal meals at Finca La Flor.
