It is clean but because it is mixed dorm, the floor is kind messy with a lot of luggages the other, but do not affect if you don’t mind the ventilation is not going that well.
ゲゲスト*Honest Review: Comfortable Stay but Disappointing Service Transparency*
Me and a group of colleagues chose Wendu Inn during our recent work trip to Kota Belud, and I’d like to share an honest review—not just a general star rating—because the experience was a mix of excellent and disappointing aspects.
Pros: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
• The check-in process was smooth and efficient.
• Cleanliness and room comfort are top-notch—definitely 5-star worthy, especially for a small town like Kota Belud.
• The view from the café and the convenience of having a minimart downstairs were truly added bonuses.
• We genuinely appreciated the effort put into making the place cozy and welcoming.
But here comes the downside:
We booked our rooms with breakfast included, which is supposed to be served at their café. However, this was where things went wrong.
1️⃣ When we went for breakfast, there was no proper display or explanation about the free breakfast options. What was openly displayed was a menu with both breakfast (no prices shown) and lunch items (with prices).
The actual complimentary breakfast choices were hidden away in a folder behind the counter—not visible to guests. Naturally, thinking the displayed breakfast options were part of our package, we made our choices and presented our coupons at the counter. The staff accepted the coupons without saying a word. Only after finishing our meals were we surprised with a bill, leaving us feeling misled and frustrated.
2️⃣ The counter staff’s customer service was below expectations.
When we requested an official receipt for work claims, we were repeatedly told to refer to the booking website. Even after explaining that we needed an original stamped receipt, the answer was simply: “We don’t have an original stamp.”
For a hotel catering to business travelers, this lack of basic documentation support is quite inconvenient.
Final thoughts:
Would I recommend Wendu Inn? Yes—for comfort, cleanliness, and its peaceful surroundings.
But be prepared to double-check details around your package (especially meals), and don’t expect much assistance from the front desk when it comes to paperwork or clarifications.
SShafrinazMy stay at H Benjamin Kundasang was memorable. The room was okay, though it could use some improvement to make it more comfortable. However, the service truly stood out—staff were amazing, attentive, and made the experience feel welcoming. The food offered a nice variety, giving plenty of choices to enjoy. What makes this place extraordinary is the view—absolutely breathtaking and worth the trip on its own. Overall, it’s a stay with incredible scenery and excellent service, with room quality that could be enhanced for an even better experience.
ゲゲストStayed in a shared dorm. Walking distance to RDC a little further than other options but perfectly manageable. Dorm and bathrooms were clean and as advertised. Not much space to put stuff but you get what you pay for with a shared dorm. Food and drinks options at the restaurant are expensive and for several meals I opted to eat at nearby resorts which were cheaper. Nevertheless, the atmosphere at the reception/restaurant was fantastic and I really enjoyed it. Staff were extremely hospitable and helpful. No shelter between reception and rooms was a bit of a bummer but no big deal. Wifi only available at the reception. Overall, great value for the price.
ゲゲストI recently stayed at this hotel and overall had a pleasant experience. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and the front desk staff were friendly and welcoming.
The room was clean, I especially appreciated the quiet environment, which made it easy to relax after a long day.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay.
TTrippingtheuniverseSemporna is an interesting place to visit, with several islands surrounded by coral reefs for snorkeling and diving, more beautiful than many other snorkeling spots worldwide. Staying at this hostel instead of moving to an island resort is a good way to budget. And not only that, the fish market in Semporna is the most incredible one I have seen, seafood like lobsters, large shrimps, crabs so fresh, not even the one at Kota Kinabalu can be compared good as it was too. The DZ hostel lady staff was very helpful and can arrange for island trips at a reasonable price. The dorms are separated into boys and girls, something I truly appreciate. The bathrooms faced the afternoon sun, so they were dried easily and kept clean. Laundry by machine was offered free, a super plus for swimmers. The hostel also offered local Malay snack food for breakfast, and coffee or tea were always available. To be honest, it's a good budget place to stay while splurging on the island tours. It's a bit sad that no cooking is allowed here, even though there was a kitchen. Sad because the seafood mentioned above was so available. The facade of the building is nothing to boast about, and like many places, the external (streets, pavement, eyc) can be a mess. That should not deter visiting this part of the world mainly because the sea in this area is astoundingly replenished with marine life.
Hhairconditionerdecent for a short one night stay, it's a small and cozy room. Price was one of the cheapest so can't really complain, but the blanket was razor thin.
