Kanishka provided us with the ideal holiday in Bali! It is centrally located in Seminyak. Just walk out the door and there are all the shops, restaurants and facilities. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean. Our room came with a private pool. The staff are friendly and helpful. We highly recommend Kanishka!
We have recently returned from a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable 10 night vacation at Vivara Private Pool Villas & Spa Retreat in Jimbaran, Bali. Our aim was to get away from our busy life and take a complete break. The resort comprises 48 beautiful, private, self-contained pool villas, most of which are one or two-bedroom. Each villa is like your own home-away-from home, with pool decking and lounges, an alfresco kitchen bungalow (with a daily replenishment of non-alcoholic drinks in the mini bar), outdoor rain shower and bathroom, and a spacious bedroom with lounge area. It is clear that the resort aims to make every guest’s experience as comfortable as possible. As we were so comfortable in our villa, we were determined not to become complete ‘holiday recluses’ and, despite room service being the option for many of the guests, we always walked to the poolside restaurant for breakfast each morning, afternoon tea every second day, before feasting on a fabulous evening dining experience on alternate evenings. Needless to say, we did not leave Vivara hungry! The resort is like a small community, and staff are more than happy to transport you to and from your villa using golf buggies, or you can take advantage of the communal bikes and scooters and ride around the resort pathways. Additionally, a complimentary shuttle service to and from Jimbaran Beach is available, and times are customised to guests, creating a very personalised and welcome service. Being a spa retreat, we indulged in five deep tissue massages each, and they were a highlight of our stay. The private bungalows are built in a traditional Balinese style, are quiet and calming, and the masseuses provided a comfortable, relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Thank you, so much. The heart of the resort, though, is the staff. They were all, without exception, incredibly friendly, helpful, and always keen to converse and learn about their guests, or share their insights into Bali. We cannot recommend the Vivara staff highly enough. Thank you, Keke, and all your staff, for making our stay so enjoyable. We loved being immersed in the Balinese style of the resort, and Vivara did not disappoint as the ideal place for us to unwind and relax. We have no hesitation in recommending Vivara to any visitors searching for the same experience.
Akah Cottage is at the end of a side street near the Devils Tears. It is very quiet and close to excellent massage spas, restaurants and a corner shop. The cottages are very clean and comfortable with King size beds, hot and cold urn in your room, mosquito nets and a large ensuite. Storage was more than adequate for our needs. The food is varied and well cooked. Pool is very clean. The staff are wonderful and very friendly. Loved our stay and will definitely return.
ゲゲストWe stayed a total of 5 nights in a one bedroom villa. We were assigned a 4 bedroom villa which was a very big compound. As were were only using 1 bedroom, the other 3 rooms were locked up. Everything was very clean and every morning a whole team would come for the housekeeping (groundskeeper, pool cleaner, etc). There was a separate kitchen/dining/living room which had a tv, tall fridge, stove top, hot/cold water dispenser and kitchen utensils. During the day with the fan on it was nice and airy. The pool was quite big and very clean. There was greenery everywhere and it's very quiet so you feel rather peaceful. Air conditioner was only in the bedroom and it was comfortably cold. There's also a mini fridge and tv in the bedroom. Besides local channels (which usually lost signal) there's also Youtube or you can log in to your Prime or Netflix. Wifi signal is fantastic as I think it's a dedicated signal for each villa. Bathroom had a tub and toiletries were provided in heavy stone jars instead of those small bottles that you usually get in hotels. Which was nice but they didn't replenish the conditioner which ran out a day before we checked out. Not a major thing but perhaps something that could be improved. Loved the toiletries fragrance though. One thing we really appreciated is that we could smoke in the open areas of our villa, an ashtray was provided upon request for us to smoke by the pool.
Contact with the front desk is through WhatsApp. Any request you have they will attend to promptly. They do provide a shuttle service if you want to go anywhere within the premise. They will even bring you to the 24-hr convenience store which is not that near and will wait for you while you shop for your snacks and drinks. Our villa #15 was not too far from their one and only restaurant which is beach side (fantastic view) so we would just walk there. Breakfast was ok. Room service was good but limited menu. Their restaurant has themed nights on Tuesdays (Bali dance), Thursdays (live acoustic) and Saturdays (not sure what's on). We had dinner there on a Tuesday. Dine in menu had so much more choices. We tried the grilled seafood platter that tasted delicious. Other than the restaurant there's nothing else in the immediate vicinity. I think you can arrange for spas, transport and activities but we didn't try for any of that.
It's about an hour's journey from the airport. Check in and check out were a breeze. Throughout our stay the staff there was so wonderful. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Even before our arrival they were very prompt in answering my email queries. We will definitely do a return visit.
It’s not a bad hotel. To summarize I’ll write pros and cons-
Pros- service, quiet area, amazing staff, very helpful. Specially Dewi, Arira or similar best staff ever. This hotel people only come for the service but everything else is just below average.
It takes a lot for me to write a negative review. But this experience made me do so.
Cons- Wi-Fi doesn’t work! Even after asking the IT guy who said he’ll do something but actually didn’t do anything. As it had speed or 3mbps and kept on dropping.
- Buffet breakfast - very average, the staff tries hard to please you. But the food is very very average. I mean not even 1 proper bakery items. Balinese coffee just doesn’t cut it. I’ll give it a rating 3/10.
- Rooms are basic, pretty old, beds make squeaking noise, suites have nice view but everything looks old.
- There is no afternoon tea although there is a sign in the lobby that states there is.
- shuttle only runs twice a day 11am and 4pm. This hotel is about 8kms away from Ubud main shops. And the shops around the hotels aren’t many.
- Spa at hotel - OMG don’t even try it! I had booked and got this oldish lady “Ayu”. Who basically was just touching my body and not even putting any effort. I literally had to leave the massage after telling her about 10 times to put more pressure. And then she tried to charge me for the whole hour which I disputed and then she said ok I’ll charge you for 30mins. I asked her if she has another staff which I did see when I started the massage. And she says no we don’t have anyone. Worst massage ever!!!
- You must rent a bike to enjoy if you do decide to stay in this hotel.
- Food and beverages are expensive compared to shops around the place but the service is amazing. For example an Ice coffee is $5.50AUD which is what I get in Australia. And veggie Pizza is around $10.
Bring your wall plug converter if you are staying at this place. Villas were amazing as due to great staff I got to see inside them. Suites- are just standard bedrooms with balconies.
Rooms have jet pumps to wash ur bottom, has hair dryers, small empty bar fridge. House keeping staff are amazing. The shuttle to Ubud shops you must book them before hand.
There is a river that runs but you won’t be able to see it as the small trees that grew around it has blocked all the view. Pool is small but nice, there are towels and hot shower options.
- TV only has channels which aren’t in English and the network is so bad that you can’t even watch it. Very old TV’s in suites.
- you can rent small scooters for about 100k IDR from hotel.
