We found our stay a little lacklustre. Our room was very spacious, overlooking the sea and car park, but it was very dated. Scratched/tatty furniture and peeling wallpaper made us think it needed a little update. Even though we stayed on a Monday, and it was relatively quiet, the lunch service in the bar was delayed and perhaps understaffed. For lunch, I tried the open prawn sarnie (£14), which I was really looking forward to, but the prawns had zero flavour! How can that be? A pint of Guinness was £7, which was a little steep in our opinion. The staff were very friendly, and the buffet brekkie was delicious. The venue is obviously steeped in history and on lovely grounds, but it felt a little tired and lacked atmosphere.

Just back from an absolutely fabulous stay at the Galgorm hotel and spa. This hotel, i would say, is without a doubt the best in Northern Ireland for a Spa stay. The attention to detail is fabulous from the concierge welcoming you at the front door with a glass of prosecco, to offering to take your luggage to your room for you. These little things make such a difference when you are paying a higher price tag to stay. Our room was beautiful, complimentary mini bar, Nespresso coffee machine with fresh milk if you wish, and the addition this time of a fresh water tap - fantastic. There isn't anything else you could want in a hotel room. The beds are extremely comfortable and we had a fantastic sleep. If you are lucky enough to have a river facing room waking up to the sounds of the river and nature is just something you can't put a price on. I haven't even touched on the spa facilities - these are just the best we have ever seen. We got a couples full body massage and this is something I would recommend to anyone it was amazing. A fantastic relaxing stay at the galgorm. The only positive criticism I could make would be the menu for food selection could be a bit better. We would have loved to have room service and eat in our room but the selection of food available on room service for the hotel guests in the rooms wasn't great. For those staying in the cabins it looked much better. Excellent 5 star stay.
