When we managed to locate the hotel, having walked up and down the street several times. Tiny name plaque by the door stating it was a hotel. It was more of a townhouse with a key code entrance ( that wouldn’t work) so we had to ring the buzzer. Then we were let in, there is no one to greet you, our information about our room in an envelope with our name on it on a tray. There is no lift. The decor is very baroque and very elegant. Again keycode entrance to our room that didn’t work. ( at this point I was losing the will to live as we had had a long day travelling) had to ring a Whats app number and tell them we couldn’t get into our room. My husband had to go on a ‘hunt the keys’with instructions from the proprietor on the phone, We eventually gained entrance to the room, a lovely room with two extra beds on a mezzanine, good quality furnishings, gorgeous Venetian glass chandelier and mirror. View out on to side alley but that wasn’t an issue. Bed very comfortable. Bathroom very well appointed with good sized bath and shower, toiletries provided. Disappointing breakfast on a tray in room with a selection of prepackaged ( pretty awful) croissants & not very nice pre packaged pastries. Crackers, cheese and nuts plus jams, yoghurts and juice, water provided in fridge. The tray is replenished every day. We ate the yoghurts and had the crackers and cheese, juice for breakfast. Bonus, a proper nespresso coffee machine with pods, coffee milk, kettle and tea, Nescafé etc Very close to a Vaporetto stop at St Samuele. This is our 4th time in Venice, we love it so we took advantage of the Vaporettos and travelled round the City, taking photos. You can buy a 1/2/3 days Vaporetto pass so you can go all over the lagoon in them visiting the islands Murano, Burano and Torcello. Which we did. Venice is a very walkable city too if you are able bodied, lots of bridges. Wonderful shops and fascinating historic churches and museums to visit. We went to the stringed instrument museum and in the evening went to a concert of Vivaldi Four Seasons in the church where he played regularly. Fantastic. On a previous visit we went to the Guggenheim museum and Art gallery ( we went twice) with many beautiful paintings. Also Leonardo da Vinci museum. We followed a trail of churches that have Old Masters paintings and Sculptures in them…. We had two bad experiences at the hotel concerning getting some sleep, our room ( Imperiale) was adjacent to an Airbnb ( we think) the first night there was a party and loud music, with singing etc. although the walls were thick we could hear the substantial noise until gone midnight. Someone shouted at them from the street to be quiet, then it stopped. The second night was quiet and we slept well, the third night another extremely loud party, my husband shouted at them through our window and threatened them with the police, amazingly they quietened down. The following morning we complained to the management ( there was alw
