A fab hotel. We stayed in the Residence across the road from the main hotel with a large group of like minded Aston owners. The hotel was ideally situated for our tour and all the visits in the area with ample parking underground and above ground. The hotel room was large and well equipped with a large shower room. The only down side were the automatic sensor lights under the side tables which lit up the room during the night when one of us needed a visit to the bathroom and the bathroom had a sensor that lit it up. It was daylight, so we had to cover each with a pillow. Not a well thought out idea. However, everything else was superb. The breakfast was a buffet with someone cooking omelettes to order. It had a full selection of cold meats, cheeses, fish, breads, croissants as well as bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, pancakes etc… The staff throughout our stay were friendly, efficient and very helpful. We would definitely return and would highly recommend
I stayed at this hotel for one night in december and must say that the hotels website and reviews made me believe that this hotel would be worth the high price it is charging. Unfortunately it was a very different story. I should also have checked some of the not so good reviews on here and I would have been alerted much quicker. The room was super old and dated. The restaurant from the 70s and the hotel surroundings not looked after. What a difference to the glossy photos they have on their website. This was the first time after a very long time that I felt I completely overpaid for my stay and felt robbed. Also from looking at the not so good reviews, the hotel doesn't seem to take criticism very well. Even saying 'we spent twice 700k for renovations' - well don't, but I didn't see any of these renovations anywhere, and how does it matter? Then please charge the guests in the old 80s rooms significantly lower rates. You might say, why did you not complain on the day? Well, I did not, cause I was tired, just wanted to sleep, and why would it be up to me to complain if the hotel is overall just not up to scratch, don't put the blame on the guest for not complaining... Also not impressed with the restaurant, they started at 8.30 already with the preparations for breakfast, tables where moved, settings reassembled, while diners where still trying to enjoy the expensive meal. So, unfortunately I won't be returning. For anyone considering this hotel, be aware that it is overpriced, maybe ask for a modernised room early on and simply don't expect what the website and some of the reviews on here might lead you to believe.
