Hotel has a great location, walking distance of the beach and shops. No parking within the hotel, but there is on street parking. the Hotel has been upgraded since the last time we have been there, but the wooden windows and doors seem very aged and contribute to a huge amount of dust and dirt in the room. The rooms are clean but the furniture might need a deep clean. Other than that above, it is not dirty or unpleasant to stay at. The staff try to assist wherever they can, Prudence at the front desk sorted out room issues on check in. the pool is outdoor, and seems to be well maintain. The put put, fusball table and table tennis kit needs some upgrading. Ample options for breakfast, staff on hand to assist. Our dietary requirements were adequately catered for. If you are aged or frail make sure you get a ground floor room or something close to reception as the hotel is fairly large and widely spready. Having said that, the breakfast area is on the first floor.

Wir haben zwei Wochen in der Honeymoon Suite verbracht und es war alles außerordentlich: der Service, das Housekeeping, die Gastgeber und die Lage. Man schaut über den Touw River aufs Meer und genießt die Aussicht, insbesondere morgens. Es gibt private Parkplätze und die Gastgeber standen bei Fragen jederzeit zur Verfügung. Zu den besten Restaurants in Wilderness sind es wenige Minuten zu Fuß. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Beautiful accommodation overlooking Wilderness Beach. Loved access to our shared balcony overlooking the Ocean. Was met by our host with a large gin and tonic and we were were vey well looked after . Loved the breakfast - food and views and nice we touch to be offered a glass of champagne and chocolates on Valentine’s day - we’ll definitely be back 🤩

We were extremely disappointed on arrival at Whales Way Ocean Retreat as the property was not up to standard, as per the pictures posted on the website and was in dire need of a facelift. We were met by the owner who was inappropriately dressed in dirty shorts and t-shirt and a cigarette dangling from his mouth. He advised us that payment of R2,090 as posted on the site, hadn't gone through and that we should pay at the property. I noticed that the amount on his form was R1,590 and when I queried this, he advised that the amount advised on the site was not for the room advertised, but R1,590 for the Beach Room. This was our last stay of an amazing annual holiday and we were not willing to end our holiday on a sour note and that we would rather continue on home. He then advised that we would be liable for the agent's percentage. An hour later, the amount of R1,980 was deducted from our account. He then later advised that he would refund half the money, as they had managed to secure another guest for the same room. We sent through the relevant banking details to him as requested and to date we have not received any refund or communication, even after a second follow up e-mail regarding this. Due to the above, if anyone is looking for a good standard of accommodation, we would not recommend Whales Way Ocean Retreat.

A beautiful boutique hotel with the most friendly service, nothing too much trouble. We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite, which was absolutely beautiful, most spacious and comfortable although having a little peek at the other rooms, they were all beautifully furnished and spacious, none were disappointing! The breakfast was very tasty and enjoyable, homemade granola, fresh fruit and delicious scrambled eggs with smoked salmon..my favourite. All freshly served with choice of teas and coffee etc. A short walk takes you to the centre with lots of bars and restaurants to choose from, we had 3 nights and chose The Girls and llani both were excellent choices and lunch at salinas 😋 Highly recommend
