This is a charming place that is a throwback to its early 20th Century days, yet doesn't feel old. We had 4 rooms (3 with king beds & a 2-queen room) & the ante sitting room for the 2 queens was big enough for another shared suite! The king bed ante rooms weren't as large, but that could be due to location (corner rooms). The staff was helpful in coordinating our plans, gave us information on where to eat, transportation, places to go & warned us about the hills. They held our luggage until it was time to leave. We enjoyed getting drinks from the bar & sitting in the mostly original mahogany wood area that reminded me of a private members club, where captains of industry would sit by the fire in high backed chairs, smoking cigars & making deals. On Saturday evening, there was a small, all male jazz band & Sunday brunch was a 4 lady ensemble band (upright bass, accordion, guitar & violin) who provided some great background music. There was an issue with a window being stuck open slightly, but within minutes, the maintenance person came up & fixed it. It was chilly outside & the air conditioner had been turn on for the season (no heat), but they provided us with 2 standing heaters & that did the trick. The beds were comfortable, the shower pressure was good & didn't have to wait for warm water. If you're tall (over 5'9” / 170cm), the height of the shower head may be a bit low. Be aware that there is construction in the area at the time of this writing & that they're near a hospital, so you may hear some ambulance sirens, but they were infrequent & it didn't bother anyone in our party.

Might have been a nice hotel years ago. Upkeep is little lacking now. I had a room a few months ago that had about a half inch deep and 1 in wide trench going across the middle of the room. This is the room they gave to a man with Parkinson's. On May 23rd they gave me room with a standalone air conditioner unit loosely vented to outside. See pictures. It was a cool evening outside and cool in the room. I expect it was going to get colder that night. The built in heater/ac was set for max heat but cool air was coming out. I called the front desk and they said it was zone heat in the building and all the zones were turned to cooling because I've been hot that day. They offered to deliver a portable heater. But with the window open to Street noise and Air, having to lug the heater in bedroom to bathroom I'm back, I decided it was just more than I wanted to do. I checked out, complained to the front desk. They did reverse the charges but offered only the excuse that had been hot that day. Looks like a nice lounge and restaurant but not worth the hassle to stay there again.
