This hotel simply does not deserve its four-star rating. I was offered a complimentary upgrade to a duplex suite, but I declined it after seeing the room. The extremely steep and narrow staircase has to be used repeatedly throughout the day, and I found this to be an unnecessary safety risk. I would strongly caution prospective guests before accepting this type of room, especially if they have luggage or reduced mobility. On top of that, the upper level was dark and uncomfortably hot. What was intended as an upgrade actually felt like a downgrade. The underground parking garage is one of the worst I have ever experienced. There are only six parking spaces. Unless you drive a very small car, I would strongly advise against using it. For anything larger than a VW Golf, maneuvering is extremely difficult and, in many cases, practically impossible. Every wall, pillar, and corner is covered with scratches and paint marks, clearly showing that many drivers have already hit the concrete. Even worse, if all six parking spaces are occupied, a car larger than a Smart has no chance of getting out because there is simply not enough room to maneuver. I have never seen anything like this in a hotel garage. If you value your car, park somewhere else. The breakfast is frankly embarrassing for a four-star hotel. I have had better breakfasts in virtually every Ibis hotel I have stayed at in France. The selection was extremely limited, with no tomatoes, no salad, no vegetables—nothing. It simply does not meet the standards one should expect from the Mercure brand. The condition of the hotel is equally disappointing. The bathroom showed visible mold, which is completely unacceptable. Even worse, the window frames looked as if they had never been cleaned. Thick layers of dirt had obviously accumulated over a very long time. Even the complimentary toiletries were not replenished after the first night and remained unreplaced until I checked out two days later. The hallway carpets were heavily stained and filthy, adding to the overall impression of a neglected and poorly maintained property. The air conditioning barely worked, making the room uncomfortable, especially during the summer heat. To make matters worse, there was a strange rhythmic noise in my room throughout my stay. I have no idea where it came from, but it was constant and particularly disturbing at night. The hotel has only one elevator, resulting in long waiting times during busy periods. The refrigerator did not work properly, and the Wi-Fi was virtually unusable. The connection kept dropping, forcing me to log in again every few minutes. Even basic internet use became frustrating. Overall, this hotel deserves no more than one star. I am giving it two stars solely because of the staff. Everyone I encountered was genuinely friendly, polite, and helpful. Nils at the reception deserves special recognition. He is outstanding—professional, highly committed, customer-oriented, and one of the very few
