The reception was very helpful. They kept our luggage for two days after we checked out. There’s a nice pizza restaurant across the hotel and we loved the pasta & pizzas. The room was clean and had a small balcony where we watched the stars. The plugs were old ones with three holes so make sure you have the right adapter.
We arrived at the most expensive hotel (AU$1600 for 3nts, 2 adults) we had ever stayed at, there was no lift to our room on the 1st floor.
I struggled to carry 2 suitcases with no assistance from the gentleman in reception up to the 1st-floor room. This would be very difficult if we were older & unable to carry our cases.
The wi-fi didn't work in the bedrooms only in the public areas - even though we were told it would.
The bedroom had multiple squashed mosquitos on the walls next to the bed.
The lace curtain had a couple of cigarette burns on it.
The bedcover had a cigarette burn on it.
The telephone handset cable was not connected to the .telephone - I tried to fix it but it wouldn't stay in the socket.
The safe was not working.
The instructions to use the safe were so old & worn out you couldn't read them.
The shower wouldn't work properly, so I had to call the person in reception to assist us in getting it working.
You had to get out of the shower cubicle to retrieve shower gel/shampoo/soap. There was nowhere in the shower to put these items. There was no room in the shower at all. I moved the stool in the bathroom to put my shower gel on it & two legs fell off the stool.
The toilet roll holder wouldn't hold the toilet roll and it kept falling off.
The bathroom bin was broken and filthy
The breakfast ran until 10 am, the bread ran out & was not replaced & this was before 9 am.
I am a travel agent & book many guests to stay in cities around the world including Venice
I was upset that this hotel was an extremely poor standard and felt like it ruined the end of my beautiful holiday in Italy.
We would be extremely grateful if you could offer us a credit for our next hotel booking with trip.com, we are in the process of booking our November Asia tour.
Kindest regards

However, the entrance was a bit tricky to find at first, as it’s located at the back of a café and the rooms are on the upper floor. There’s no physical reception, but the management contacted me via WhatsApp with clear instructions. I completed check-in and paid the tourist tax online. Otherwise, I would’ve had to check in at their partner hotel, Antico Doge.
Once I arrived, they sent me the entrance and room passcodes via WhatsApp. The room itself was brilliant for a solo traveller: clean, well-equipped, and thoughtfully arranged. I appreciated the complimentary tea, coffee, toiletries, and the mini fridge. The air conditioning felt a little weak, and there was a note on the remote not to change the settings, so I wasn’t sure how to adjust it.
After checking out, I was able to store my luggage at Hotel Antico Doge for free while I explored Venice a bit more before catching my next train. Overall, a pleasant and efficient stay.
