If you need a place to stay one night on the round trip of Iceland, from Akureyri back to Reykjavik, Laugarbakki is the choice. Hotel choices are limited. This one is probably a reasonable choice. Compared with other hotels of similar quality in other towns, this one is relatively expensive. The breakfast lacks choices, too.
But the staff is good, as I lost a remote control of my selfie and found by the staff, lovely.
If you are seeking isolation and to see the beauty of the rolling hills of Iceland then this place is for you. There is not much around and the road is a dirt track for miles. It was peaceful and relaxing with lots of horses around. The facilities were clean and modern. The staff were super friendly and helpful!
Only available choice on our way back to the capital. The hostel was old. Food in the restaurant downstairs was nice. We ordered lamsoup and burger. Room was a bit torn out. Breakfast was okay. Small bathroom. You can get hotwater in the common area.
