My wife and I stayed for four nights as we were visiting relatives near Neath. We had stayed the previous week at the Holiday Inn in Leicester and that was superior in many ways.
After we checked in at Swansea, we were told the lift wasn’t working and we had to carry our suitcase and bags up two floors. Although we are elderly, there was no apology or offer the carry out luggage to our room.
The room itself, although adequate in size, was not up to the standard of the room in Leicester. The main problem was the bed. We were told the beds were new, but unfortunately we found ours a bit small and rather uncomfortable and so we requested a topper which helped a bit. The quilt was too small for the bed also.
A very important point is the parking. There are not enough spaces and every night when we returned, there were none left, which meant having to park in the restaurant next to the hotel, but we entered our registration number in the restaurant to avoid receiving a ticket. At night it is not obvious which spaces belong to the hotel. The staff gave us incorrect information and we have heard that this has led to hotel guests receiving parking charges. Please be warned the hotel spaces are on the right only as you drive in.
The breakfast is adequate.
The bar prices are very expensive and we only had a drink on the first night - once bitten, twice shy!
Generally the staff were helpful and pleasant.
The room was spacious and the location of the hotel is nice, but outside of Swansea city. If arriving by car, the location is quite convenient with access to supermarkets in short driving distance and of course the M4. We stayed here in winter and the hotel room was very cold. Also the walls are quite thin, so you can easily hear what's going on in the room next door...The staff were helpful in resolving issues, but the WiFi was not great, so be prepared to use hotspots.
Elsewhere, the hotel granted free access to the swimming pool in the leisure centre next door during certain restricted times. Did not get a chance to use this perk last time, but will definitely do so next time!
Within the Swansea region, this is a reasonable choice for accommodation with quick access to M4. There is no Aircon and the WiFi is not wonderful, so be prepared.
