I had a horrible experience with a female staff member being rude and aggressive after initially pretending to be nice. Both she and another female staffer then prevented a helpful male staff member from helping me. When she was reported to the team leader he made threats to cancel my (the victim’s) booking and to also blacklist me from staying at all Safe stays and made unfounded untrue claims of complaints. The female staff member named D prevented a staff member from doing his cleaning job by physically holding him back from changing a bed and helping me move to a female dorm then she literally tried to grab my phone when I was about to email the hostel manager and senior manager at Head office to complain. Furthermore she lied to her team leader and stated that I was trying to film her. Apparently she then threatened to quit instead of apologising for her misconduct. I was trying to email the manager on my phone to complain about her misconduct when she tried to grab my phone from me! Several people shared with me similar experiences they had . Some staff were very helpful and lovely. An employee who has been unkind to a customer should have disciplinary action taken against them. A staff member should apologise and not try and gang up against a customer. No one has the right to put their hands on your personal phone. She never apologised. The team leader Alex also did not apologise for her misconduct. Bullying and threats were being used to silence someone who had been treated unfairly and unprofessionally. Fortunately the staff at the head office were very helpful and the manager was contacted to stop the discrimination and bullying and threats towards a customer. I was made to stand for hours despite being injured and recovering therefore my legs and feet were swollen and painful as a result and it was emotionally stressful to deal with unprofessional behaviour. I did not feel safe at all and called the Head office for assistance. The aggressive behaviour of the three staffers had a negative impact on me and my health. I made it clear to the Team leader that I did not want any further contact with the particularly mean staffer named Doaa and I gave feedback to the head office and was assured that the manager would assist me to make my stay better. Previously the team leader Alex had threatened “I don’t care if I lose my job here at Safestay but I will cancel your booking.” Why the shocking hatred and discrimination towards a customer? I was very upset and missed my meetings and attending the Opera which was also on my list of things to do. Later I discovered the light was not working in the room they had assigned to me and the toilets were clogged. The whole night there was a man snoring beneath me and I couldn’t sleep. It has been a horrible experience. We had a photoshoot pre planned for the next 7-10 days in the beautiful Holland Park and needed a convenient Female dorm or single room to arrange and prepare. We have paid money to e
ゲゲストI stayed at the hostel for 3 nights and my experience was really nice. The stuff, the room and the breakfast were perfect! Everything was clean and also the staff always were cleaning. The location is the best, near Hyde Park and Nothing Hill and also near public transport. Thank you very much to be a great place during my visit to this beautiful city!! :)
ゲゲストOK, I have to be careful not to totally slate this place, because it's basically a fair enough hostel for the price. However... The entire cardkey entry system was down for 4 days - meaning everyone left the dorms open 24/7, rather than go downstairs and get the poor bugger on reception to come up & open the door every time someone needed to take a piss. That's not great for security. I switched dorms mid-stay. No problem with the dorms, it was just they didn't have a bed available in the same dorm for a whole week. The lockers in both dorms were too small to put much in and the locks on both my designated lockers were broken, as were about half the others. This didn't stop someone using mine for a couple of days and putting a padlock on it, even though twisting the lock open - padlock or not - would have been easy. I was only putting my shoes & coat in there anyway. I stuck them on the end of my bed! On the plus side, there are some excellent lockers in the basement Chill Out Room, available for £2.50 per day on a coin-operated machine. You can get two proper backpacks in them. That's good value, though having to trek to the basement is a ball-ache. The dorms were very cramped. I don't expect an army barracks style of comfort: my bar at hostels is the standard set for Aussie and Pommie prisons these days! Spacewise, the dorms were well short of my bar! There are lots of old court and police station buildings where people aren't allowed to be held overnight nowadays because the cells are so small they violate Yooman Rights! The two dorms I was in fell short of that! Less than a metre between the two rows of bunks in the bigger dorm and about 2 feet between the bunk and a projecting bit of wall in the smaller one. The bigger dorm had a sink just inside the door, opposite the (broken) lockers, but the space inside the door - between the sink & (broken) lockers and before the bunks - wasn't much more than a square metre... and you're obviously in the way of anyone going in or out as you stand in front of the (broken) lockers. The smaller (6-bed) dorm had a sink by the window, which was more practical. Also... The website pic showed 2-bed bunks as the set-up when I booked online. The actual set-up in both dorms was 3-bed bunks. That's a bit cheeky. I was in the middle bunk in both dorms. I didn't have a tape measure handy, but the space between the middle and top bunk was significantly short of 2 shoe lengths - and I'm not Shaquille O'Neal in foot size. Well short of 60cm. If you fancy a career in the submarine corps, or if you're a method actor about to play a Silesian coal miner in a film set in the 1800s, this is fine. As it is if you're 1.40m tall. For anyone else, it's a mite cramped. There was no pillow on my bed on the first night, though one appeared on the second day. Beds were pretty comfortable, though the mattresses had squeaky plastic exteriors - can't whinge there: Poms aren't good with holding alcohol and I can imagine acci
PpickledpinkxoI was supposed to stay for two days but left after the first as I felt unsafe. The place is very unclean. The pictures online are wildly fabricated as I got such a shock when I walked in. Like a crack den. Not meaning to be dramatic but from the uneasy feeling of this place, dirty surroundings, shower in the mixed dorm has no privacy whatsoever. When I arrived late people’s stuff were all over my bed so I was assigned a different room and after staying there not even for 24 hours whilst I was out in London the staff said they needed the room back so they packed up all my belongings without even contacting me. Then I tried to go to the bathroom and I had male house keeping entering as I was on the toilet. I asked if they could give me a minute and I thought they had gone but they hadn’t so I had to tell them to leave quite sternly. Worst hostel as a solo traveller I’ve ever stayed in and I wouldn’t recommend for anyone to go there. Will be messaging for a refund
ゲゲストStaff greeted us and very helpful and location for this Budget hotel was excellent for central London. The breakfast was well stocked and very clean area However room although comfortable certainly needed updating. As carpet was soiled to did not work and bathroom mirror ledge broken on edges Would return but would want a better updated room Staff friendliness certainly made up for downfalls in room
ゲゲストWe first checked in with Mohammed who greeted us with a smile and made sure to make us feel welcome with lots of sweets and lollipops! He made sure to let us know that we were welcome to come for some tea and biscuits whenever we wanted! Top bloke. The room was pretty nice with a surprising amount of amenities that we weren’t expecting (fridge, tv and a nice modern shower). On the way out we bumped into Toqil too and he was a very friendly guy also. He offered to take our keys so we didn’t have to walk back to reception to drop them off which was nice. The room was nicer than we were expecting for the cheap price and both the members of staff we met were a testament to their profession!! We would love to come again. :)
