We were greeted by a lovely young woman wearing big glasses and a bigger smile. She checked us in, greeted me as an honors member, explained the amenities and discounts and even called me an hour later in my room to see what else she could do. She helped me login to the wifi and order her recommendations from room service. Just the most amazing service I’ve seen in a long time.

The property is convenient to the airport and the rooms are decent and the breakfast is adequate. Overall, the staff there also seemed to be nice. We only stayed one night while transiting through SJO. Normally, I would have given them 4 stars but the primary reason I”m giving them 1 star is because their billing and management department seems to be atrocious. After, we checked out, we were supposed to receive our invoice by email but did not receive it. The elite nights and points for the stay also did not get posted despite the reservation being done directly through the marriott website. Multiple attempts to contact them and ask them for the invoice have failed. I have opened up a support request with Marriott helpdesk (i'm a Titanium elite) and they have been working for a week to get a simple invoice to be sent properly. It seems their billing and management is handled by someone from the adjacent courtyard and that person/team is totally incompetent.

Bon accueil, disponibilité, malgré un court séjour tout était réuni pour que nous nous y sentions bien. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir.

Great location for transport to Arenal adventures as well as an easy walk to local restaurants and variety stores. Helpful and accommodating staff. Clean, comfortable, if spartan, rooms. Fun pool. Wide variety of breakfast foods. Good bars above the restaurant and by the pool.

Upon arriving your in a questionable neighborhood. Upon arrival your at a large iron gate, which is needed for the area your in. They buzz you in. Check in was a breeze. They have a nice court yard, swimming pool with a waterfall. Very nice areas to relax in, and an activity room with a pool table. They also serve breakfast which consists of mainly fresh fruit, eggs, rice with beans and coffee, no meats. Did not have dinner there. The rooms are very old. No room darkening shades, just some old curtains. Beds were ok, but very old furniture. Paint was peeling off the walls in my room, and the bathroom has dirty chalking, and an old shower. All rooms use a regular key, with a chain lock. AC worked fine. If you like a dark room at night like I do forget it. The curtains offer no light blocking. Would I stay here again, only in a pinch. I’ll try Hampton Inn, or Holiday Express on my next visit.

Whilst this is technically a hostel, it is far better than some hotels we stayed in! Rooms are great (good air con, hot water, good storage); facilities superb (pool, business lounge, kitchen/food prep area, pool table, great bar); well organised trips (the zip line followed by hot springs is a must!); very helpful staff; and the food delicious (tuna steak with salad delightful)

Am greatly enjoying my stay in Costa Rica and here in lovely La Garita at the Martino Hotel. The hotel itself is quite special -- guests stay in separate tile-roofed buildings spread across the lush, green grounds. I imagine that the views from each room must be quite unique and special. It was so enjoyable sitting and reading on the deck outside my room watching the nearby bamboo forest sway in the gentle wind while listening to the fascinating calls of many species of birds perched in the many species of trees. Extra 5 stars and muchas gracias to the very helpful and friendly staff whose efficiency really impressed me (the hotel was hosting a conference when I stayed there in event space not far from my room, so I could witness first hand how hard the hotel team was working).

The private room we stayed in was very comfortable and the small yard/garden is beautiful, and the owner is exceptional helpful. It is near the SJO airport, they provided transportation services for our arrival and leaving, in addition there are many attraction suggestions available by the owner, we bought one of the attractions, it was great. We're very happy to stay in this house, and will definitely come back again when visiting Costa Rica in the future.. almost forgot to mention that that breakfast is included and $6 for lunch which is a great price for one in the city, we had fish for lunch which was delicious.

Rooms are great (good air con, hot water, good storage); facilities superb (pool, business lounge, kitchen/food prep area, pool table, great bar); well organised trips (the zip line followed by hot springs is a must!); very helpful staff; and the food delicious (tuna steak with salad delightful)

El hotel no es lo que parece, las fotos no se corresponden con la realidad. Las habitaciones son muy pequeñas, húmedas, tienen paredes de madera (se escuchan todas las conversaciones de los cuartos contiguos), los techos son bajos... parecen ”cajas” en lugar de cuartos de hotel. El desayuno es pobre y escaso (lo traen a la mesa, no es buffet) y si quieres repetir el café con leche (que sirven en una tasa minúscula) debes pagarlo aparte. El personal de la recepción no es atento en absoluto, y la comida del restaurante tiene sólo dos o tres platos básicos. La relación precio- calidad es pésima, ya que lo promocionan como un hotel de tres estrellas y con suerte será digno de una. Consejo: elijan otro hospedaje, que los hay en La Fortuna mucho mejores.

We did not stay at the hotel but we came for the day! It was so relaxing and I think we came out of their “busy season” so there weren’t many people there! We went at 11 am when they opened, stayed for lunch which was a buffet with fresh vegan options, we had a couple Swedish massage which was SO great and relaxing. We came in late May and people started filling the springs after 4 pm. The top coffee bar had the most wonderful view of the volcano and it was such a fun relaxing experience. They had lockers available so you could just relax and have fun! Definitely recommend spending at least 1/2 day!

It's a busget Hostel, so you should not expect that much, it is clean but very old. Staff is cool but wasn't that helpful in some request, probably not their fault, but owners can put some extra effort to make this place better. It is clean and cozy.

Super nice breakfast Sushi was not good Room is nice Grounds are very nice
