I would like to mention the Staff! Mathieu Boutrus went over and beyond to help us out. No task to big or small. Also the rest of the staff that we came into contact with included Camille, Sarah and Camille. There was also the night time Staff which I did not get their names. All of which did an outstanding job. Several things that are important to us is the comfort of the mattress( slept like a baby) the water pressure in the shower 🚿 Great ! Pillows and duvet were so comfortable as well. Their breakfast was delicious too !
I’m on the fence about reviewing this hotel; here’s why: Pros: The hotel is in a great location, right next to a metro station, restaurants around, upscale/safe neighborhood, decent view of the Eiffel Tower from room (if you paid extra), basic amenities & that’s about it! Cons: Breakfast - The breakfast is pricey & mediocre (especially if you are a vegetarian, it’s not worth paying for it), the staff/employees weren’t too friendly or helpful, they stop breakfast at 9:30a on weekdays (we showed up at 9:20 one day & the manager was grumpy!), there are lines for their espresso machines & their mugs are super unclean! Front desk - They don’t have a concierge to help with questions or tours or directions. They don’t have bell staff or anyone to even help you with your bags or get cabs. The staff don’t reply to your emails about questions. They didn’t even provide details of hotel amenities, Wi-Fi, breakfast timing, complementary room amenities (practically 1 bottle of water for the whole stay) at checkin. It’s the most inhospitable staff I’ve seen in a 4-star hotel! Room - For an executive room for 2 adults & a kid, it was tiny. With a queen & a sofa bed, there’s no space to walk around (is it normal for Paris standards?). They do not provide any toiletries. I mentioned a few times that it’s our anniversary visit & they did nothing, not even a wish! How lame could that be! Between the breakfast & the ET view, I paid 40% more (yes, my fault) & the view was good but is obstructed with buildings & chimneys. I’m even a Accor member but unsure if I ever want to go back to another Novotel. I’m appalled that this hotel is rated 4-star in Paris!
*** recommend avoiding it at all costs*** The only good thing about this hotel is its location. Its proximity to the shopping district and other land marks is convenient if you like walking. Unfortunately, everything else is not worthy of even a 4 star hotel let along 5 (current rating). The room is quite small compared to other hotels we have been in, even based on Paris standards. The inside temperature was very warm with no functioning AC - we requested a fan but were given a broken one in which the blades barely rotated. So we were left with one option - being outside as we felt more refreshed outdoor. Breakfast was a joke, I highly recommend getting it from the nearby cafe/restaurant as you are only entitled to one plate ( 2 sunny side up or eggs of your liking) + 20ml of orange juice and a croissant with dry bread. You can easily get a much more decent breakfast elsewhere for less.
HHenriPFr2019Clean rooms, clean bathroom (my personal pet peeve), comfortable bed. Very friendly and helpful ladies on the front desk. The room is small but not so much of an issue (only when you had to lay out the luggage on the floor). Would be nice to have one of those luggage stands. The hotel is in a nice, busy part of town. Close to the metro, close to Monoprix (es). Be aware that about 5 minutes to the left of the hotel on Clichy is the non-family friendly part of town (sex shops galore). But this particular hotel is in the nice area. South of the hotel is Rue Dames which has a very nice collection of restaurants and everything else you would need including a couple of laundromats. We love walking in Paris. It's a trek but we walked to Sacre Couer one day, we also walked to our favorite hotel south of the Seine in the 5th through Notre Dame. On our second day we walked from the hotel to the Opera, Grand Palais, the Louvre. On our third day we walked from the Eiffel tower in the 7th through the 16th (Arc the Triomphe) all the way back to the hotel. If you are up to soaking up the sights of the city and the neighborhoods, this location worked well. We booked for a day but ended up extending 3 more days which tells you how much we liked the hotel.
