Room was nice and clean, but air conditioning wasn’t working. Asked to change room because without air conditioning room was stuffy. They said there are no more rooms available as all are fully booked, but could provide a fan. The fan did help greatly, but I did a check online and there are clearly still rooms available to be booked.

Hotel is very nice and close to river. But it is a bit far from metro, train station and city centre, so we have to book uber or walk long distances. So if anyone is booking, please make sure to check the distances. However, it is excellent if you are having or you are coming on your own vehicle, as they are having huge car parking area.
Fantastic friendly helpful staff that go above and beyond.
Great facilities.
Beds very comfortable. Only one small niggle and that was the room could do with a mirror.
Brilliant stay! Stayed for the Christmas markets. Everything in walking distance. Unlimited coffee tea down stairs by reception 😄 in the mornings also with snack. So great once you was leaving the hotel. Beds comfy also and view was nice in the room seeing the city
Very well located in the heart of Newcastle. The service was excellent. The gym was small but for everything I needed.
Breakfast is on the pricey side, but very generous. In addition to the buffet, there’s a wide selection of freshly prepared dishes. If you’re a meat lover, the full English breakfast is definitely worth trying.
The rooms are decent, though for this price point, you might expect a bit more luxury.
Hotel room nice, good view of the river.. staff really helpful.
Very disappointed with the breakfast..
Hard black pudding
Hard hash browns
Just warm sausage
Luke warm beans
Didn’t try anything else
Toast nice and tea nice.
But would book with out breakfast if I stopped again.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Very clean and great location. The room was big enough for us and I liked that the room had a unique layout. We would definitely stay again.
ゲゲストExcellent stay at the Dakota in Newcastle. Very professional and friendly staff at check-in and the grill. Quality of the room was fantastic, had everything we needed
ゲゲストExcellent location, very near to the train station. Places to eat and see were a short walk away from the hotel. The Angel of north was a 15 min drive. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great too! We had an amazing time using the spa facilities aswell. Would definitely recommend
ゲゲストBooked a room away from the lift. Gave us a room next to the lift. Went down to see ifcwe could get it changed as we wanted a quiet room On check in we requested this so obviously next to the lift facing the stack is not a quiet room. Next room was directly above the hotels air conditioning unit gave up as obviously the receptionist was having a serious customer service melt down especially when we went out 10 minutes later and she called over ..is that room OK for you? Obviously not as the air conditioning unit screamed all night long we just said yes as what was the best room going to be ?? Certainly will not be back thanks to the totally piss taking receptionist
ゲゲストI had an early morning flight and wanted the least worry option for making the flight. I chose the Britannia primarily because of its location but was pleasantly surprised when I checked in. The staff were very helpful and courteous, the prices of food and drink were very reasonable which was another eye opener as I’ve encountered the kind of airport hotel overpricing that normally entails travelling. All in all it was probably the best value for money hotel I’ve ever stayed in and I’ve been all over the world.

ゲゲストI stayed due to having an early morning appointment at The Freeman Hospital. The hotel is about 12 minutes walk from West Jesmond Metro Station and the walk from the hotel to the hospital took me 30 minutes in the snow, so probably 10 minutes less on a more normal day - 5 minutes by taxi probably. I am very impressed given that the hotel is billed as just a 2 star one. I would guess that the lack of a 3rd star will be largely down to there not being lifts, not to my second floor room in the main building anyway - potentially a deal-breake, especially if your visit is Freeman related. My room was every bit as comfortable as a Premier Inn one for example and in it's cheerful contemporary way a lot more attractively decorated. I stayed on 4th Jannuary - and the temperature was -5 outside ! The room was a bit chilly when I arrived but a good fan heater had already been put in there to supplement the normal central heating. It was not the hotel's fault that the shower room was never brilliantly warm! The shower was excellent though and the room was very well equipped. I did not try the breakfast; £13.50. Staff were helpful. I'll stay there again and not just for going to the hospital!
ゲゲストOn the day of check in I arrived early because I had an early train and I had nowhere to go, it was rainy and cold. It was nice that people answered the bell and collected my luggage, but they didn't let me stay on the common area because it was early, so don't count with early check in even if you contact them previously or you can pay £25 for it, no flexibility at all.
The cleaning was fantastic and amazing no-smoking area, really rare in the UK, most places people don't respect the law. Lovely common area with complimentary coffee, tea, milk, biscuits, bread, fruits, etc. The staff is very kind and concerned to provide the best!
I had an extra heater in the room that was really useful as it was freezing cold.
