"We were guests at our friends' wedding. Aside from the fact that the location is beautiful, it was a disaster at the Laasenhof! But let's start from the beginning: We know that the coordination between the bride and groom and the venue was already complete chaos beforehand. At some point, they hired a wedding planner, who slowly started to bring some order to the event. Everything was discussed, contracts were drawn up, and deposits were paid. About two months before the wedding, the bride received an email informing her that the planner had been fired and that a meeting would be necessary to review the contract. This was apparently done, although suddenly not everything that had been promised could be implemented, and the drinks and buffet suggestions were reconfirmed. On the wedding day, everything was fine until dinner, and then disaster struck. A buffet was served that the bride and groom had never ordered. This buffet had absolutely nothing to do with what our friends had hoped for. There were 24 people in total at the wedding, including nine children. It was far too few. There were a few scraps of meat that would have been enough for a maximum of two men, and there wasn't any more meat. Among other things, there was chili pasta (really popular with kids 😞), gnocchi, potato wedges, some kind of soup (which claimed to be minestrone), a small selection of cheeses (without bread), tomato and mozzarella, octopus salad (who wants to eat that?), and desserts. It was simply abysmal, both the buffet selection and the quantity calculation. Incidentally, the original buffet was a kind of barbecue with a variety of meats, fish selections, side dishes and salads, a selection of bread, and much more. (They simply "forgot" that a year earlier there had been another buffet with the same or a similar name, but with completely different contents.) As "compensation," they offered to make burgers and fries, but 16 guests ordered them, and after about 45 minutes they were told that only 9 burgers were left. The bride aptly remarked that she could have taken us to McDonald's. It was incredibly embarrassing and, above all, annoying for the couple, especially since they had already eaten there beforehand and had praised the excellent food. As far as we know, the price was subsequently reduced somewhat, but even that was disproportionate to what was offered. One should really consider how many people this buffet is being cooked for and whether the contents are appropriate. The couple is still annoyed that they didn't discuss the original buffet suggestion directly with the head chef, but rather with the resort manager. Everything would probably have been fine then, as the head chef is really very good.
