When I checked in a 'security' deposit was taken from my credit card without my knowledge or my approval. I only found out because my bank always sends me a SMS message when my card is used. It's a very long time since I stayed in a hotel which requires a deposit. I checked out last week and the deposit has now been returned.
We stayed in the block behind the main building. It was a motel style room with car parking outside. The room was clean and everything worked. The beds were comfortable and there wasn't much noise from the road.
Breakfast was basic, with little choice. It felt like everything was done to keep the cost down.
Hilltop Inn is a cheap hotel. You get what you pay for. I will probably dig a little deeper next time I stay in Salmon Arm and stay across the road at the Fairfield.
All I can say is the kids loved it other than the beds. The beds were both visibly sunken in the middle. This was in room 164. Our friends stayed in another room and had great beds. Ours needs replacing badly.
The worst part was the noise at night heard until everyone settled down for the night around midnight. (We use earplugs and still too noisy)
The rooms aren’t sound proof at all. Upstairs or down. Our friends stayed in a room upstairs and had the same problem.
The best part was the pool for the kids which is why we chose to stay here along with the included breakfast(yogurt, peaches fruit cups, white bread for toast, cereal, make your own pancakes, juice and coffee. Had milk but no cream for coffee which many voiced their disappointed ). Very minimal breakfast but kids were happy enough.
Hopefully management can make a few changes to make the stay better for the guests to come.
ゲゲストNice property. Very ridge on early and late check-in and check out. Check on time is 1:00 and it is an extra $50 to check in early. Check-out time is 11:00 and can be extended to noon without a fee but beyond that it is $50. Breakfast is a little bit light with no hot foods.
Great pool and water slide along with a hot tub. I had a suite, and room size was good, almost a mini condominium.
ゲゲストVery nice staffs😘
Our family reserved 6 rooms for our special occasions, we all had a great time at this hotel. They really took good care of us during our entire staying .
Very comfortable bed and the center of everything. Definitely recommend staying at this hotel.
Decent hotel in Golden. Very close to the highway. The staff is very courteous and responsive. Good selection for breakfast- includes vegetarian options too.
MMikki LizFirs of all, the receptionist was very friendly and had a big smile on her face during both check-in and check-out (it was the same lady), warm and nice lobby.
Second, the room was smaller than I expected, smaller than what the website showed but it was clean.
Third, when I arrived it was almost impossible to find a parking spot (see pic 4) because there were several hotels in the same area. I had to wait in my car for about 20 minutes until someone finally left so I could park and check in.
Fourth, hotel parking is quite expensive $34 per night for self-parking and $39 for valet. The underground parking lot is right next to the garbage room (see pic 5) which was disgusting and horrible. I also saw two guys working in the parking area and they seemed really unfriendly. If they ever film another Conjuring series this could be a perfect location.
To be fair, I did notice that several other 4 star hotels in Whistler have similar parking conditions: dark, old and dirty.
Fifth, it was a bit cold at night and I tried to adjust the room temperature but it didn’t work. I mentioned this to the lady when I checked out.
If you asked me if I would stay there again, probably NOT. The price is okay for the room and the location is very convenient there’s an Old Spaghetti Factory inside the hotel and several bars, restaurants and shops are just 5–10 minutes away on foot.
