About this spaceStarry Pines Cottage is a newly renovated, 1950s resort cottage that has been brought back to life.The house features reclaimed wood pieces and local furniture finds alongside mid century modern touches that give it a unique and stylish appearance.We have outfitted the place to function for small groups and families with a fully equipped kitchen and flexible seating arrangements.We allow dogs on approval, so tell us about them and bring your furry friend along for a hike.The location is fantastic, whether you are looking to ski (just 11 miles to Hunter Mountain,) explore shops and restaurants or breweries or go hiking and swimming. Palenville is 15 minutes from everything you want.Our family including a friendly lab mix lives in themain house is across the drive from the cottage so we will be your neighbors. That said, we respect your privacy and need for solitude and leave it up to the guests as far as interaction goes.You will have full private use of the entire cottage/guest house which is equipped with bathroom, kitchen, and two bedrooms. You will also have private access to your own patio, fire pit and BBQ. The outdoor sauna is shared with owner but renters have priority and we generally only use if you are out. TThe greater yard, sun deck, and small trail that runs through the property are shared space, please enjoy, and clean up after your pets if they are with you. The paintings he made from those sketches moved many other artists to flock to the area to try to capture it's awe-inspiring beauty, not only on canvas but also in poetry and prose.Their glorious works, widely reproduced in the major periodicals of the day, attracted so many visitors that they in turn spurred the popularity of grand mountaintop hotels, which became favored destinations for all the giants of the 19th and early 20th century.The famed Catskill Mountain House, in 1823 the first resort in America, was as legendary in its time as any playground of the famous and powerful today. The Mountain House, and the others that followed, like the Hotel Kaaterskill and the Laurel House, attracted Twain, Sherman, Presidents Arthur and Grant, along with nobility and notables from all over the world.This is the real Catskill Mountains, not the vacation areas in the foothills to the southeast that long ago misappropriated the name. The justly famed Kaaterskill Falls, the tallest in New York State, rendered and made famous by all the major Hudson River School artists, is no more than four miles up the road!The Mountain House, Hotel Kaaterskill and the Laurel House, widely-famed landmarks in their day, are all gone now. The depression of the 1930's, fire, and the march of time eventually brought their reign to the end, and the once imposing structures demolished. Welcome to our spacious 2700sqft 3 Bedroom/2 Bathroom Chalet located in the Catskills. Set on a private road this newly constructed home sits on 3 acres and features a large Great Room with cathedral ceilings and fireplace open to the custom gourmet kitchen with KraftMaid cabinets, Quartz counters and stainless appliances. The outdoor living space consists of a 610 sqft. deck with black railings. The kitchen is stocked for your needs and features a dishwasher, full set of pots and pans, a set of chef's knives, an oven, plates, cups, mugs, mixing bowls, cutting board and cooking utensils. We also provide a toaster, microwave, tea kettle, coffee maker and blender. Help yourself to any of the spices available. Garbage bags and hand towels are also available for your use.The two bathrooms are stocked with plenty of towels, hand soap and toilet paper. Each bed features a comfortable and new mattress, pillows, linens and comforters. Extra pillows, linens and blankets are available in the linen closet.The dining area has a 6 seater glass dining room table and 4 additional barstools. There is a large open concept living room, with an electric fireplace and comfortable seating. The sliding doors lead out onto the large deck/grill area. The master suite occupies the top floor and features a den/study area, walk-in closet and sizable Master bath with an Air Driven Whirlpool Tub, shower & double vanity and a mounted flat screen smart T.V. Completing the first level are two bedrooms and full bathroom. Two twins beds occupy one bedroom and a queen size bed in the second room. Downstairs, the basement walks out to the front of the house and doubles as a family/game room. There is a large entertainment area with a sleek Lazzoni sleeper sofa and a 55" TV. We offer plenty of games, as well as internet and access to smart T.V channels.
