" Pros - We were warmly welcomed , our room was very comfortable and stylish.Breakfast was a delight and we also enjoyed supper one night- Excellent cooking. .The Salty Monk was a lovely place to stay, very friendly and efficiently run. There is a delightful garden and outside seating which because of the weather we did not use. We don’t usually stay in such a luxurious place and it was a real treat . Thank you. Cons- Loo and shower was very clean and attractive but a little challenging as there was nothing to hold onto if you are disabled However the owner provided me with a chair to use in the shower and was very helpful in suggesting a mobility shop in Sidmouth we could hire things from ."

"With my daughter working away, I needed to find a pub with Sunday lunch. This pub certainly hit the spot, I love a good old country pub, low wooden beams, real ale, excellent food and service. The beef and chicken were tender and succulent, the roast potatoes were crispy and stunning. The Yorkshire puds were homemade and crispy. Served with carrot/swede mix, peas, red cabbage and cauliflower cheese. The chicken did not come with a Yorkshire but my daughter paid a £1 to have one. However we had to ask twice for that and my horseradish sauce. Don’t even mention the toffee sticky pudding served with a toffee sauce and ice cream and it’s not small. The staff are well organised and friendly."
