Upon our arrival, we were shocked to discover most of the hotels facilities had closed the previous week, with the exception of one of the restaurants. The themed food nights didnt happen, the same food was served each night and the soft drinks ran out. The TUI kids club, which had initially proven to be excellent, closed on our second day. The hotel's own kids club merely involved children of various nationalities sitting in front of a Spanish kids' movie, providing no meaningful engagement for our children. Despite the disappointment in the hotel's amenities, we did find some aspects of our stay to be positive. The staff seem lovely, albeit none of them can speak any English, which made life difficult. The rooms were clean and spacious, offering stunning views of a beautiful sandy beach. However, we were forced to choose the sofa bed for sleeping, as it was considerably more comfortable than the excessively firm mattress on the bed. The main reason we selected this hotel was the promise of a wide range of activities, facilities and entertainment. Sailing is only available during peak season, but all other activities should have been accessible. Posters in the hotel continued to advertise a range of activities. In reality, our options were limited to bingo, conducted exclusively in Spanish, and a disco at 10:30 PM. Our children were particularly upset when we learned that the daily 6:30 PM kids disco, which was still being advertised, was canceled without prior notice. The equipment in the games room was mostly out of order, as was the wi-fi and air conditioning. We complained to TUI and were told the t&c's allow the hotellier to remove any facilities and services without notice if it chooses to do so. Apparently this is common during ”low season” - we visited during the school half term so it was busy, with long queues for the restaurant. I would hate to see these queues during ”high season”! Similarly, only one of the bars served a small selection of drinks. The TUI app continues to advertise a wide range of excursions including a children's water park. Upon arrival we learned these were also unavailable. Our final day was also the day the hotel closes for winter. Rather than spending the day in the pool, they wanted us out by 11am when our transfer wasnt due until 6pm. More complaints to TUI and they agreed to a later checkout and €90 towards a meal during our wait at Faro airport.
